Proof: A Top SEO Ranking is Perpetual

Just this morning I made a small observation about this blog that I wanted to share it here. Over the last several months I had been busy with several projects and hardly had anytime to write on this blog, this has severely effected my reader base. Astonishingly it has not impacted my SEO ranking.

Let me explain.

If you go to Google and do a search on the term “Information marketing” ( Broad Search) I’m ranked #8. This ranking can change depending on your IP address, but more or less I’ll be in the first page. Pretty impressive given there are over 233 million competing pages. This is a very competitive niche.

On a similar note a search for the term “Info Marketing” ( broad search) reveals I’m ranked #5 and again there are 231 million competing pages. For the same term Info Marketing Guru Dan Kennedy’s site ranking #18. You will agree that is also impressive.

As I said, I had not been active on this blog for some months. I have not done any link building either, yet this seems to stay on the top. While the number of content posts have gone down in the last six months, my ranking has significantly increased.

You can also duplicate these results in 5 simple steps.

Step #1: Get an aged domain, preferably with the keyword in the domain name that you are planning to rank for.

Step #2: Make 3 posts a day. This content has to be original. No PLR, No Spun and No Auto feeds. Your original content.

Step #3: Make sure your meta tags have your target keywords.

Step #4: All content posts are categorized properly under categories whose name compliment the root keyword.

Step #5: Repeat Step #2 for 90 days.

This is not to brag but to share the fact that.. with some decent content you can quickly rank your site and retain it for a long time. For all of you who think SEO game is flaky lets talk 🙂

Like to hear your thoughts on this..

    Hi Srini,
Just to check, should Step 5 instead read “repeat Step 2” ie content generation? Step 3 for meta tags I would have thought would be a once only job. Thanks for clarifying!

wow.. I can’t believe you made this post and giving SEO advice. Sounds like a lot of work to write 3*90=270 articles and for what? to get 453 visitors like you did last month on this site? Your traffic has gone down month by month http://siteanalytics.compete.com/srinisaripalli.com/?metric=uv

Most of your traffic comes from this keyword “membergate cost”

Information marketing only gets 720 exact match searches/mo and info marketing gets 260 on Google so no wonder you don’t get any traffic from those keywords.

So I’d say this not good advice at all.
Let me know if I misunderstood something 🙂

Great Catch Sarah, you are correct. I have fixed it.

    Thanks
    Srini

P.S: If you are savvy you can make each post focus on a keyword and then make sure that that keyword reflects dynamically in the meta tags.

What happened to my original post? Did not add value to your site or was it in unjust criticism? Nice way to sensor PROOF. I hate gurus giving advice that they don’t follow themselves or does not work. I’m out of your list.

    Hi Silver,

Your previous post went into spam. I receoverd it.

Your observation about the search volume of this keyword is correct but this post is not about traffic. Its about rankings and competing pages. My intent behind ranking high for this keyword is not to get traffic but to standout in the competition and get visibilty from JV partners.

The traffic count on my site has considerably gone down too( I talked about that in the post). Thats partly for my negligence. As I mentioned too many projects and too little time.

Appreciate your comments and please keep them coming.

    Thanks
    Srini

Why do you care about the ranking that much if the ranking is not getting you any traffic? Anyone can rank for a keyword that gets no traffic. You mention nothing about JV partners on your post and have you gotten any JV requests? Probably not, not based on this site. JV partner would want to do business with someone who has a big list but if your site is not getting any traffic then you can’t have a list either.

Can you honestly stand behind your simple 5 step plan?
If yes, perhaps you can show a site you have done that yourself(270 articles in 3 mont) I doubt you have done that yourself and If you have please share the traffic and revenue you are producing from it. It takes an hour to write an article and that is 270h*$15=$4050 if you make $15/hr and this is not even talking about adding the content and working on your site. And that is just to break even. There is a lot more needed to make article marketing to work then just posting those articles.

      Hi Silver,

If traffic is the only reason why people want to rank, half of the SEO consulting businesses will go out of business.

Traffic and Competition are two different things.

I don’t try to sell anything explicit on this site. My main income from this site has been my consulting and speaking gigs. When I mean JV I dont’ mean Internet Marketing JV’s( May be I should have been more explicit).

Yes I do stand behind the 5-step plan. Here is why…

Early on I personally used to write 20 articles a day. So writing 3 articles a day for me is very realistic. (Also English is not my first language)

This is not my plan either for that matter. I got this in a conversation with John Chow and Darren Rowse. In an interview I did with Darren Rowse he categorically pointed out, even if you make average posts frequently on your blog you will eventually make money.

      http://gorichonline.com/blogging/secrets-to-blogging-success-an-audio-interview-with-darren-rowse-of-probloggernet/

      Revenue Numbers..

I understand you need proof, which I’m willing to provide, but understand I’m limited to how far I can do with it. If you want to discredit me its completely up to you. Again you are the best judge.

If money making if the primary goal and the channel of money is through ads and affiliate programs then this is how close I have come with it.

Unfortunately I cannot go explicitly go into some of the niche sites of mine, even if I want to. I hope you will understand.

      But…

How about I setup a new blog, share the URL with you upfront, blog for 90 days and show you the numbers. This way you can see this evolve in front of you.

      Thanks
      Srini

Sounds like you shared someone else’s plan that you picked up in a conversation that should eventually make money. For me at least it is all about ROI, what it comes down to is the effort and time worth the money the site produces.
And I don’t want you to set up a blog and write 270 articles just to prove me wrong since I know you are a busy guy and have much more profitable projects going on. Unless this is what you had planned to do anyways. If that’s the case I’m sure many of your readers would enjoy this case study.
I wish you the best whatever you decide to do.

      Hi Silver,

Next few weeks I’m launching another new six figure(hopefully) blog. This is an authority blog on the subject of “Influence and Persuasion” with all my credentials on it. I plan to make 3 posts a day till I get to the first page of Google for some crucial keywords. It may take me more than 90 days. I’ll make it a case study and share it with all.

Rejoin my list, so you can see the progress. If you are unhappy you can always unsubscribe.

      Thanks

    Ho Srini,

    This is brilliant…

I have the time available to write 3 post a day….the question is many words do the post need to be.
And meta tags, this is where I use all-in-one-seo will help…right?

Thanks again for this brilliant information–you deserve the first page.
