14 Books That Changed Me For Good In 2009

Today is Jan 1, 2010 and a Happy New Year to you.

I woke up early for a reason and i,e to make a gratitude post on my blog.

While many bloggers and marketers have timed their gratitude posts to coincides with the year end, I decided to start the new year with mine.

Let me confess, It took a while for me to write this short post. This post is about a set of 14 power books that changed my life in 2009. These books are not new, some of them were published during my grandfathers time( early 1900’s).

Year 2009 was all about perspective for me these books helped me change my perspective about life and business in a big good way. Such was the impact that the later part of 2009 I witnessed tremendous success in my business, friends, relationships and most importantly family.

Here they are..

    • Everyday Greatness by Stephen Covey
    • The monk who sold his Ferrari by Robin Sharma
    • The Power of focus by Mark Victor Hanson, Jack Canfield & Les Hewitt
    • The Magic of thinking big by David J Schwartz
    • Put Your Dream To The Test by John C Maxwell
    • The Key by Joe Vitale
    • Man’s Search For Meaning by Viktor E Frankl
    • The 48 Law’s of Power by Robert Greene
    • Success Through Positive Mental Attitude by Napoleon Hill & W.Clement Stone
    • Maximum Achievement by Brian Tracy
    • Unstoppable by Cynthia Kersey
    • The Answer by John Assaraf & Murray Smith
    • The Quest of Happiness by Newell Dwilight Hillis
    • The Art of thought by Graham Wallas

I had many of the above books with me for years and I do plan to read them again and again for many years.

Now go and buy these books, some are out of print and are hard to find but that should not be an excuse . Your kids, grand kids and even your great grand kids will thank you for many many years.

Before you go.. Did you read a book that helped you big time in 2009 or is there is a book that you would like to recommend, please mention it here.

I promise to buy and read it.

    Hi Gaj,

During a visit to India in 2005, I found my Dad reading this book. I heard about Robin Sharma and this book independentlay but never knew he was the author.

I read it for the first time in 2005 and continue to do so every year thereafter.

The biggest lesson I leanrt from that book was a quote by Robin

“There is nothing noble of you being supeior to others, true nobility comes from you being suprior to your former self”

    Very powerful…

    Hey Srini,

Thanks for the New Year post. As a young entrepreneur any great book is a great asset for me. In 2009 one book that really got my business on a fast track was ‘ The Art of the Start’ by Guy Kawasaki

      Hi Tim,

Guy Kawaski is a terrific thinker and writer. I tried my best to have Guy as a keynote speaker at my Internet Income Summit last August. Needless to mention every one of his books are great as so is “The Art of Start”.

      Thanks

    Hi Srini,

Happy New Year to you and your entire family. These are good books judging by their topics and I also think they will be inspirational as well. I like reading books by Napoleon Hill. May be I should look for that first and others to follow.Thank you and God bless.

Happy New Year! I will say that I’ve closely browsed 48 Laws of Power many years ago and at the time, I highlighted all the things that I found hard to swallow but seemed so very true. Funny but sad thing is – years later someone whom I was involved with found the book and assumed the highlights were my SOPs. What can I say? Maybe some of it rubbed off, but some of those techniques are beyond me still… Thanks for sharing… I will add a few of those to my 2010 reading list and let you know how it goes. I’ll also follow-up with you via email.

    Hi V,

Yes Success Principles by Jack Canfield and Janet Switzer is an awesome book. I have closely stuided the publishing process of this book before it came out. I have read it from cover to cover and highly recommend it.

    Hello Miracle-Dawn,

A happy new year to you too.

Robert Greene is a master writer, have you read his other book The Art of Seduction. Its a master piece. Robert Greene is one of my favorite writers.

One of my recent favorites is “Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting!” by by Lynn Grabhorn. It is another one on the power of your thoughts and the power of intention, (also known as the Law of Attraction) but she presents in a humorous, accessible way. Good stuff!

My “annual read” for spiritual focus is “Illusions” by Richard Bach. And, of course, anything by Wayne Dyer.
