How To Overcome Frustration

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

Welcome back to Success with Srini. Today on the podcast, I want to take up a topic, which has to do with our success or happiness and our joy, but mostly with our success. And this is something that we all suffer with. And we suffer from different proportions. And this is our ability to handle our frustrations. All of us there is a cap when it comes down to it, you know, our ability to handle situations beyond a certain point. All of us give up we are humans. So some people, have an urgency to express their upsetting feelings. It’s not that you should completely avoid expressing or upsetting feelings, but some people have an urgency to do it. And if you are one among them, then today’s podcast is going to be helpful. I’ve been asked this question across all my engagements, you know, how many how do we deal with frustrations? And the answer to that is, are there any techniques? Yes, there are. And I’ve tested a few myself. And over a long period of time, I’ve learned how to deal with it. But then I also get frustrated and frustration is an innate emotion, it is there in all of us. If you are a human, you are expected to become frustrated at some point in time. But if you have goals, you have ambitions you are trying to get things done. And then you are dependent on other people, you are dependent upon your energy, you’re dependent upon some hidden things that you don’t know. And because you’re dealing with a lot of unknowns, then it’s natural that you will find yourself becoming more frustrated as compared to other people. So how do you deal with this? Oh, the answer is one of the most efficient techniques to deal with frustration, is hypnosis. And I talk about it all the time. I’m a big proponent of it. And beyond hypnosis, certainly, you have to do the self-hypnosis that’s given. But beyond hypnosis, let’s say you want to do something outside of a technique that you would take six months or a year to learn. You’re going through it now you need a solution. Now, what will you do?

Beyond hypnosis, meditation, and mind expansion techniques, the first thing I would do is breathe. Breathing allows you to kind of dissipate that feeling that emotion very, very quickly. A long time ago, I talked about the 555 technique. And the 555 technique involves that you breathe, or you inhale, counting five, you hold your breath, counting five, and when you exhale, slowly counting five. So I’m gonna inhale, now, you’ll see this. It’s a small inhale, I could have done that in 30 seconds. But then let’s say, if I’m standing, I suggest that you stand and inhale. So you count five, when you inhale, like, I’ll do that slowly, and you’ll feel it. And I’m going to hold it for five. And then we’ll Excel this would be much better if I’m standing and doing it, I’m actually sitting and recording the podcast so you can feel it. So 555 is a good technique, you can take it to 666, or 777, depending upon what your lung power is, where you are in a given situation.

Usually, the idea behind this is when you are breathing, then your focus, your mind is shifting to your breath. So that means you are a little bit disassociated with what’s happening or whatever is the one thing that’s causing the frustration in you, you are disassociated from it for a moment. That’s the idea behind this. And I would practice that that’s very effective. And you could do it even if you are with a bunch of people in a social setting. Then the next method is obviously disengaged. And disengagement means that you walk away from the room, wherever you are, let’s say you are getting into a fight or you are seeing that there is going to become tense and there is not you’re going to get angry and all that. So you see it’s bottling up, then I would leave the room. I practice this for years and it works very effectively. So that is disengagement. And the third technique is, is challenge yourself not to say anything, regardless of what is coming at you. This is hard. This is like you’re putting a wall around you. But then, you know you don’t leave anything you don’t you’re not walking away from anything. But then you are sitting or standing there without saying anything. It takes a while to get into a position that involves a lot of things self-discipline. But then if you can practice that, that means the practice of not voicing your opinion immediately upon being challenged.

And naturally, one of the feelings we’re talking about here is frustration or feeling frustrated, right? So try to challenge yourself not to say anything. The best technique of all is something that I have seen this is the ability to expect the unexpected. There are some people in your life right now, you know, they will irritate you, they will, they will get you frustrated, whether knowingly or unknowingly not It’s not their fault, but then they can really trigger you. And you know, they have triggered you. So why not expect that behavior of font and get ready with your breathing and walking, have your technique in place or your wall technique in place within which you’re challenging yourself not to say anything. Magic happens, this is the best approach, being proactive is the best, that gives you a lot of energy.

Now, there are some other things like you can distract yourself, somebody is saying something to you, you can just take your mind somewhere else. That is, again, a mind expansion technique, you could do it I’ve you know, I’ve done in spontaneous hypnosis, self-hypnosis, on myself, and distract myself in a situation where I’m being attacked. I’ve done that. So there are some affirmations that I’ve run in my mind instantaneously, that I’ve done that, too. So these are all the techniques. But here is the biggest technique of all, which is every feeling dissipates. Your anger will dissipate, your frustration will go away. Why would you lose your reputation, all the things that you have built over the years to be where you are because hardly takes one thing to destroy everything? Just one thing. So why even engage in that activity. So one of the affirmations I use, in fact, affirmations I use is that I will never sweat, small stuff, no sweating of small stuff. And the second follow-up affirmation I have is everything is small too, don’t sweat the small stuff, and everything is small. It’s very simple.

So I already recorded a YouTube video on this on my YouTube channel, which I’m considering not to re-record, but maybe I’ll just have it there. The way it is, it sounds good. So maybe I’m going to have that you should check that out on my YouTube channel, all you have to do is go to YouTube and search for success with Srini or my name, you will find my YouTube channel. And I’m talking about the exact same things that I’m sharing here on that video also. So just if you want to see the video, then, by all means, do that. See it hear the truth, some shifting, some breathing, like shifting, using some breathing techniques, using some disengagement techniques, avoiding to speak techniques, there are so many different techniques that you can use to overcome frustration. But the technique is a technique. And you have to keep on applying this you have to keep on practicing index this for a long amount of time. The truth of the matter is you got to fundamentally agree that frustration is something that is unnecessary. It’s not about learning technique, but the support in principle agreeing that frustration is not necessary. When you do that, then none of these techniques matter at that point in time.

So I hope today’s podcast is helpful. Hopefully, you put this into practice, and hopefully, you want to get some results if you do, let me know. Please if you find a YouTube video, please comment on the YouTube video also. Okay, so that’s all for now. Wherever you are, be safe and we will talk tomorrow. Bye now.

Why & How To View “Change” As An Opportunity

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

Your own view of changing if situations around you are changing. If you have started to feel as if you are losing control, then today’s podcast episode is for you. I’m Srini Saripalli. Welcome, or welcome back to Success with Srini. This question on how to deal with change. I talked about it multiple times on this podcast, there are some earlier recordings. And also during the COVID time, I talked extensively on the radio shows that we all are put in a situation to deal with this unknown. And our lives are going to change. And when the change eventually when we will get a handle on this change, our lives are going to become better. Now two years later. Suddenly, we feel right now things have started to settle down, things are opening up, economies opening up. And things are getting better.

As I’m recording today’s podcast, today happens to be March the second which is a Wednesday, Happy Hump Day to you. So the question becomes Is this how do we deal with this unknown or this change? There are very subtle ways to deal with this. The most important part is making a shift in the mind. And seeing change as an opportunity. Every time there is a change, like a job change, a location change, or a financial change whatever. Small micro-changes do happen in our lives. And every time different people take those changes differently. Now, one way to look at changes, all this is going to take me down, this is not good. And this is the end of everything that I have got going, I thought it’s going to get better from this point on. But now I don’t want to deal with this. The mind goes there, it’s very natural for the mind to go there. But then once you shift the understanding and say, Okay, I’m going to see this as an opportunity. I’m going to make this change that opportunity. See, the truth is this. Everything is changing. Everything is changing. And nothing is going to be constant anywhere. This is the truth of life. If that is the truth, then why not accept the idea that change is good. And why not even extend that idea and say that change is also progress? Why wouldn’t I consider changes progress? And once that happens, I should also acknowledge the fact that change is going to be uncomfortable, to begin with. And it’s natural for change to introduce some unknown into the equation. But life is unknown anyway because we don’t know what’s gonna happen tomorrow.

So, we are already dealing with that unknown. So, if a change is happening, let it introduce some unknowns. Because as human beings, we are already dealing with unknowns anyway. But I would also extend my thought and kind of expand the thought and say, okay, so the change will also bring some newness into my day-to-day life. Anyway, day to day, life is boring, even though I feel I’m in control of it. It’s boring, it’s like, monotonous, it’s repetitive. So every life doesn’t matter how exemplary life anybody’s living, how flamboyant and individually is with the life. Everywhere you see some degree of reputation, some degree of boredom, it’s there, it’s existing there. It’s it’s there. It’s we know its existence. But what if the change brings in new people? What if the change brings in new ideas, new concepts, new discussions, new interactions, and some degree of newness? It? Is it fair to say that change could also be transformative, not a negative way, in a positive way? There could be things that we couldn’t imagine, we couldn’t do with our current thinking, but then with this change happening.

Now we are put in a position to think differently to deal with life in a whole different manner altogether. So that in itself is transformative. And because of that, there is a possibility that there is a wider array of choices that you could make. See, and as a result of these wider choices, maybe there is some spice to life. Maybe, maybe there is some variety to this. So the key here is, why not tell yourself that I will deal with this change, I will adjust to this change, I’m going to lead this change. Now that this has been put on me, even though I was not expecting this, but given all these things, given all these elements that are coming, that could be potentially coming with this change, let me lead this change. Once you take your mind there, just a matter of a few days, you’ll start to feel comfortable.

Changes, good changes, progressive changes, going to introduce some unknowns, but then it’s okay, I’m going to recognize those unknowns, and I’m going to deal with them as they come, I’m going to learn and I’m gonna expand myself as a result of this. And then change will also bring in some variety, some as a result of the unknown. And then that’s, there’s gonna be some spice that will be introduced into my life, and there’s going to be newness.

The point is change is fundamentally transformative. We need to align ourselves to that change. And we can keep on adjusting anything that happens to us by simply shifting our mindset and we do that by positively happening to this change. So I want you to be open to change. That’s the idea of today’s podcast. We think you are in control, but we are not in control. And the day you realize that you are not in control, you are truly in control. Thanks for listening.

Hopefully, today’s podcast is helpful. I’ll be back here again tomorrow. Till such time, wherever you are, be safe and be happening.

Our Growth Is Equal To The Size Of Our World

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

Welcome or welcome back to Success with Srini. Before I go any further today on this podcast, I want to quickly pause for a second and ask you, how was the intro? Did you like it? This is the first time that we have added the intro to this podcast. Today is March 1 of the year 2022. Today’s the Tuesday at the start of a new month. And it’s also a way it symbolizes growth for us because the last two months, this podcast was a dry podcast, essentially, there was no intro and outro no liners, no music, nothing. I simply turn the microphone on and I speak. And today’s the first day that we realized, or at least I realized that maybe this podcast needs a professional makeover. So this is a kind of a makeover. Let me know how it sounds maybe give it a few days. Listen to tomorrow’s and the day after episode and then tell me what you think about the intro, the outro, and all that.

Just on the podcast, I talked about, I gave an insight into how to ask a few questions. So that you can grow, like remove self-imposing beliefs. I’ve done not serving, remove, evaluate life patterns and remove mediocrity. Start the day with a key question. What is that? That one thing I’ll do today? That’s going to make a difference in my life. So if you do these things, naturally will grow. Anybody would grow. People don’t do this. That’s where the show is. Now every time we talk about growth, there are five areas only five areas. So every individual’s growth can be measured. At this time, if I meet you, I can measure your growth you meet me, you can measure my growth. And our growth is across five areas. Okay? Our growth is mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and financial. That’s it, anybody can be measured. But every time you talk about the word growth, people associate, Oh, okay. This is about money. They want my job. This is what the title this is what the role is about the house in which I live. Yes. And also no. That’s not how it should be seen. What am I doing today to mentally grow myself? What am I doing today, emotionally grow myself? What am I doing physically? financially, spiritually.

So here is what I do. And I’m going to give you the facts that I do in each one of these areas. mental growth for me is that I wake up in the morning, I engage in a good conversation with myself. Then a good conversation with somebody else. And it starts with me, the way I start with myself is I read a book, a chapter a page for the whole book, but a page or a chapter, depending upon how much time I have. I do a little bit of meditation, a little bit of self-hypnosis a little bit the start my day early in the morning. That’s the start. That’s the beginning. So that is my mental expansion.

To expand the mind as quickly as possible in the morning. And likewise, an emotional expansion of my world on a day includes saying thank you saying sorry, saying not swing anger, not swing frustration. By the way, all these emotions come. We get angry. It’s an innate emotion. We get frustrated, it’s natural. We get worried it’s natural. We get stressed, solve given, but because of my emotions and because of all those falls in the emotional part of the quotient. I need to control my emotions. Now, if I don’t get angry at a point when I am supposed to get angry, I control the anger. For me, it’s a symbol that I have expanded my emotional world on that day. My physical world is again, how many calories I burned, did I run? Did I swim? Did I hike? Did I climb, whatever that is? So I do something to justify my physical expansion for the day.

I also do the same with my spiritual thing, I pray and meditate. I isolate myself for a few minutes with myself to all that is my spiritual growth. And there is a higher power I love I respect I surrender, whatever my higher spiritual beliefs are, I just give some time every day to that. And then my financial world can I make an investment, even $1, even just $1 One Investment, can I do that. So if you just this is an example, if you decide that you want to put $1 Every day, for the rest of your life in some investment doesn’t matter, Bitcoin, a theory on this, that people get too confused. Now, just $1 automatically goes from your account into an investment automatically goes into a mutual fund or into a stock or whatever $1 Just every day just goes into some investments, some recurring investment, and probably are making $1 you spend the dollar anyway. That in itself is an expansion of Your World, Your financial world, you don’t need to do multimillion-dollar transactions to justify an expansion. But just that move itself is an expansion of your world. This is profound if you think through it this way, most people don’t. So every part mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, financial, every part of the world. All this together is my world. When I add all these things together, I can simply talk to anyone and can measure their growth by simply adding up everything that they are doing across these five areas on a given day in a given week in a given month in a given year. And because growth is equal to the size of the world, of our world, whatever world that we live in, very simple. That’s it. The problem is this, most of us do not want to go beyond our initial point of value. This is where people struggle with growth. Whatever our initial point of value is, we don’t want to grow beyond that. So it means I studied, I got an education, I got a degree.

Now, why should I go to school? Why should I study? It’s okay, I got a job, I’m doing my job. It’s okay, my boss is incorrect. My salary isn’t correct, my company structure is incorrect, or my positioning is incorrect. It’s okay, I’ll live with it. It’s okay, fine, I already put 20 years into it 10 more years I’m done. That means you are invalidating the future point of value. That means you still are sold into who you were 20 years ago, and we are still selling that version of you. Why not sell a different version? I hope I’m coming across. At any point in time, the difference between your initial point of value and your current point of value should be positive. That mat is completely left to you. Have you done this math? But at any point in time, you’re the difference between your initial point of value and the current point of value should be positive. If the negative means this is not going right, you need to address it differently. A couple of questions you have to ask every day. And I asked this in a different way. What more can I do? People some friends tell me Oh you do a lot. Why are you working so hard? I don’t work hard. Man. This I’d never worked hard. I really never worked hard. I wish I could have worked hard, harder. I wish initially, this podcast started out to be harder it started. I don’t see any heart. There’s nothing hard about this podcast anymore. Seriously, nothing hard about this. So what more can I do? What more can I do? This question forces you to raise your current value? What more can I do to benefit myself, my family, my friends, and people who believe and trust and count on me? What more can I do for others? That’s what you’re asking. We’re asking that question. See, when you ask these questions, the brain automatically moves to answer. When the brain moves. That means that part is created that means now you have actionable thought the brain will automatically move in the direction and you will act because you keep on asking the same question you’re not getting an answer, then the brain will move to find an answer, as simple as that. See, I keep on saying this on my radio shows and also on this podcast, you have to become a person in the process. You have to become a person all of us, we are people in the process. So we are learning we are experiencing, we are giving, we are sacrificing.

We are enjoying it. We are living, we are existing, we are growing. So if, if you think and I see I meet people who think this way, they think they arrived. And I keep telling them you haven’t started, say you haven’t started. So the only way you can really win this game is when you acknowledge that you are a person in the process. An incredible quote that changed my life when I heard and I want to wrap this up with this quote. This was a quote by Henry Frederick mill. He said, If you go silent, you’ll be forgotten. If you don’t advance, you’ll fail. If you stop growing, you’ll become small. If you leave, you will give up if you stand where you are now. It’s the beginning of the end.

Appreciate your listening to today’s podcast. Thank you for being a subscriber. And thank you for your questions. And thank you for your support. That’s all for now. That’s all for today. And I’ll talk to you tomorrow. Thank you.
