This Is How I Train My Mind For Maximum Results
Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
Welcome back to success with Srini. Happy Sunday morning to you on the podcast today, I’m answering a question, which is very interesting. I want to become successful in all aspects of life. What do I need to do? What kind of thinking do I need to have? And can you share some action steps? This is a wonderful question. This question is so open, and there is so much innocence in this question. I, you know, this podcast is, is that this podcast is to address a question like this, and how can I be how can I become successful? Now, to be very honest, nobody knows the answer, to how you can become successful. Everybody has some idea, some guidance based on their own experiences with life. Everybody, whoever does what I do, is not different than that much different than what I do. And I’m not that different than them. All of us have ideas, and all of us have thought based on our own understandings and experiences. And we all share. So there is no way to precisely tell you how you can succeed and what you have to do to succeed. I can put myself in your shoes and answer the question as if I’m living your life, that’s also difficult because I have not met you, and I don’t know you. So it’s difficult. So all of us can provide some knowledge, guidance, ideas, and thoughts here. But the true discovery of success has to happen from your side, whatever it is for you, it’s only for you. I can share with you my mindset on how I approach things in my life. And how I train my mind, and how I have positioned it. Again, this podcast has all those thoughts, everything that I share here is what I more or less practice, sometimes I do refer to some examples that are beyond my reach but which I do not do. But mostly everything I share here is what I practice.
So what I want to do is I want to still answer this question, because you asked, and I was deferring this question for a long time this question has been in my inbox for a long time. So there are two thoughts that I process or two, overall, bigger, you know, frames through which I look at life. The first one is, is I take a small thing, whether it is an idea, a project, a task, or whatever it is, and I can take it to the highest level, in my mind. So anything small, I elevate to the highest level. And I can take the second one, I can take something that is very big, huge, extremely big, and take it down to the lowest level of implementation. So these are the two big frames through which I operate life. So one is a micro-macro if I have to be very specific. So macro in my thinking is, man, I got to change the world. I got to do something so big. So you know, this has to be done. Like I could think like that. And in the very next moment. I’m like cleaning toilets. That’s how far and wide I could go. And I don’t see the problem with both. Not that I say I’m such a big strategic thinker, but why am I cleaning toilets, I do not. And just because I’m cleaning toilets, I will never have time to think about something big in my life. I don’t do that either. So I understand both are important. Now, as I’m thinking between these two extremes, the space in between is the idea space. This is where I get my ideas. So as much as give an example as much as I’m recording this podcast, just to know that I do not go if I have to come back tomorrow and talk about a record a podcast, let’s say I’m under the stress most podcasters have the stress as I’m speaking right now, as I’m recording this podcast now. I already have like three-four ideas in the back of my mind about what to do for tomorrow’s podcast. I do not have to sit down and think about and plan and prepare none. Let’s say you don’t have any questions to answer. Let’s say you did not answer the ask this question. Then I don’t need to worry about tomorrow because at some this. I am having ideas. So it’s interesting. I am talking about this. Maybe I’ll do this tomorrow. But just the idea crossed my mind. You know how to live a healthy life.
Maybe I’ll talk about this tomorrow. Shed some light ideas, and some thoughts on this because they’re already crossing my mind as I’m recording this podcast, the gap between a micro action and the macro idea, a project, the gap in between is where the true expansion of knowledge, all kinds of expansions happen emotional expansion, intellectual expansion, all that happens between that gap. So, in that gap, I do two things. Either I act, or I store. So, sporting means, okay, I got an idea. And let me keep it with me. And I’ll work on this. Okay, as I’m existing in between these extremes. So because I do not, I operate between the micro and macro, every aspect everywhere in life, macro and micro. That is why roles, titles, money, none of those things matter. In my existence, that won’t matter at all. Because in one moment, I might be just doing the most elemental unexpected thing. In the next moment, the very next moment, I’ll be like doing something that is completely opposite. And, you know, a problem that’s bigger than my previous action. Now, do I plan these things? No, I’d not. But that’s how it is. That’s the scale. The idea of achieving the scale, I’m not saying I do it the best. I’ve seen people who do it at a much deeper level with absolute eloquence, I do not. But then this is these are some of the frames through which I operate my life. And this is how I train my mind. So there is never a dull moment. There is never a moment of apathy, guilt, or any of those things. Now, is this the only way to train your mind now? Is this the only way to have success? But I found success by doing this. And that’s the idea. And if you can scale your mind that way, then the majority of the things that you are doing that otherwise bother you.
Why am I in this job for seven years, 10 years, 15 years, how come I’m not able to get to the next level? How come others are? So if these thoughts are bothering you, or which by the way does too many people, they tend to have less and less brain space. So this level of extreme thinking will eliminate those thoughts to occupy the brain space, and allow you to now think and look at life differently. When ideas grow between my extreme between my micros and macros and ideas grow, I usually take an idea that comes up for a thought that comes up. And I either communicate that thought or maybe it is a podcast. In this case, I was giving an example to you earlier, or something that I want to work on. I’ll keep it for a later date to come back and, and work on it. Sometimes some ideas need some time to be developed. So I apply myself within that space. Okay, this is how I train my mind. I’m not saying that this is the best way. As I said, that’s the disclaimer. But there are many techniques. And I’ve been talking about all the techniques on this podcast. So go back and some go back in time for at least some time. Just go back maybe a month or two and pick up some of the podcast episodes who are watching this on YouTube there are many that you can search. If you’re listening to this on a podcasting app, that means there are I think you can go back about 100 days on this podcast. Beyond that, I do not know that’s possible. I think iTunes doesn’t. But yeah, so the nitty gritty specifics are many that I’ve already talked about. But these frames, this, this frame that these two frames that I’m using, the very first time I’m talking about on the podcast, hopefully, this is helpful. And once you’ve mastered this, it doesn’t matter where you’re trying to create success. I’m not saying you’re not going to encounter failure or disappointment. But at least you’ll have whatever it takes to weather all that.
Okay, that’s all, for now, you go enjoy your incredible Sunday, and I’ll be here tomorrow. And I want to develop this thought a little bit on how to live a worthy life, something like that. And I want to spend the day today and I’ll record if I can get myself there. Then I will record this for tomorrow. Make it available to you. So for now, you take care. Talk soon
How To Become A Millionaire Fast – 7 Simple Steps
Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
Happy Saturday morning to you. Welcome back to Success with Srini. today’s podcast episode is inspired by a conversation I had the last evening with a friend of mine. And a friend of mine along with a relative of his. So the other individual I do not know, I was meeting them for the very first time. But then as we were speaking, I was introduced to my friend introduced me to him saying that, you know, Srini, runs a radio show and podcast and all these things. And the conversation went from Hey, who listens to your podcast to? Can I become a millionaire? Extended within the discussion went, and I made a statement, I said, Yes. And you can become a millionaire in under seven years if you play the game, right? So he was very new, he was very new to America. And he is in his late 30s. But just new, just new recently came here. So he was he’s influenced by all the possibilities, which he should be like I was and all of us are, in our own way. And he was trying to figure out how how to do this. And he read somewhere that it can be done. So he was asking me. And here’s what I shared with him, I want to share this with you because I think this is very, very relevant. And these are about six or seven things I shared with him. And this is something that I have already talked about on this podcast multiple times over the months. So if you are a regular listener of this podcast, thank you. The chances are you already heard this in some place in some context, but this context is very new, as of last evening.
So first and foremost, if you want to become forget about last evening, and who I spoke to, and it doesn’t matter who you are, what you do, how old you are, how young you are, this is what I’m telling my daughter, who just entered college, the same principles. So if you take this and apply it to yourself, regardless of your financial situation, your mental, your emotional state, whatever you are in, if you apply these, then I think this is going to be a game changer. So let’s get into this. The first and foremost principle does not to borrow. Do not borrow doesn’t matter. 0% interest 1% 2% people justify it in every which way. Do not borrow money as much as you can, if you work in Silicon Valley, where most of the listeners are who listen to my podcast, and I operate from Silicon Valley. And everybody has a job, you shouldn’t be borrowing money to fool your lifestyle, and you shouldn’t be okay. So do not borrow it doesn’t matter, Whoever tells you whatever they tell you about interest on money, how money works, how interest rates work, don’t, okay, I have done it multiple times. And I repent, I repent, and I’ve stopped, don’t do it. Along those lines, do not spend $1 Without knowing what that $1 is doing for you. So every dollar that you are spending has to have a pre-conceived meaning so you know exactly what you’re going to do. So let’s say your next paycheck is gonna be $5,000, let’s say and or $10,000, let’s say and your $10,000 should have every dollar within those 10,000. And from the paycheck. Every dollar has to have an allocation. Every dollar has a meaning attached, an allocation, ideally, an allocation of cash. So you know, I’m paying $3,500 rent, I’m paying $1,000 car payment, whatever expenses you have, and whatever that budget is, every dollar is completely attached to the budget. No questions asked.
This is how you become a millionaire by the way. No car expense, no car expense. So ideally, if you have a car today and just paid off, and if you’re buying a car, buy a car that really does the job, but you’re not paying monthly payments on a car. I do not like paying monthly payments on cars. And everybody who ever was in my coaching ever myself included that I do not pay payments on cars period, don’t do it not worth it doesn’t matter how big of a car you drive. You know, every time I said this also, every time I see something that’s visible, it means somebody’s paying for it. So if I’m driving an expensive car, I would rather pay it off. It’s not I’m not saying don’t buy a Ferrari or a Lamborghini or a Tesla, whatever goes by, but make sure that you paid off, do not take payments, not pay interest at all. It just doesn’t add up. You cannot break through the cycle. You cannot become rich, you cannot become wealthy. That’s it. Build an emergency fund. emergencies are everywhere. No matter how predictable your life is. You have an emergency that’s just about to happen. Life is life. Life has a lot of unexpected events, the events do happen. So you got to have an emergency fund.
What is an emergency fund there are so many debates on this. Some people say three months some people say six months. You need to have one year the salary somewhere in cash available to you to do whatever you want to do. And whatever you want to do is not like whatever you want to do. In an event where you have an emergency, you should be able to tap into that money. You see, when I get excited, I rush myself. And I only get excited when I talk about a topic that I’m very close to. I only get excited on my radio shows and podcasts because these are things that I live in West from the top and invest on the bottom, I did a podcast on this recently talking about it investing from the top means that you match your every investment that your company is giving pre-tax got to match. So I’m sorry if the employer is matching, you got to invest, I would do it regardless of 401 Ks, I will do it. If you have an HSA. That means tax-deferred contributions you can make into an HSA account, then do it, take the HSA account, and do it. If you have esp Do it. If you have life insurance and disability insurance given to you by your employer, then do it. So these are from the top of your some of them are after tax, but most of them are pre-tax pre tax, it goes without saying just do it. Now, this is investing from the top investing from the bottom means post-tax, if you have postbacks 401k investment that you can do, do it, you’re eligible for it do it. Investing from the bottom includes, you know, trying to find a few dollars here and there. And after you’re done with your emergency funds after you’re done with your savings and all that you still want to save, you still want to invest and save a little bit small amounts of money you want to invest, then that’s called Investing from the bottom investing the bottom means specifically, in my mind is, you know, apps like acorns, or capital of the queue, get these apps, these apps are amazing. What they do is they do lab will do what is called fractional investing and fractional savings. So you go to a store, and you spend $3.25, let’s say these apps can round up that expense to $4, and withdraw 75 cents from that transaction from your savings account and put it into an investment. And it happens in fractions, which is amazing. So at one point, I tested this app in 2018, I believe, capital 2019 to 2018, I believe. And I ended up saving like $9,000 It’s crazy how much money you can save and how many small little transactions you do. I had a setting on this app, that every time the International Space Station goes around the Earth Move $1 From my savings accounts into an investment. I set this up that way.
So the ISS ISS goes 18 times around the earth in a single day. 18 times. So $18 a day I was saving investing invisibly all preset fractional investing is huge. If you’re not doing fractional investing, then I think you’re going to lose out on a big time. The base of mutual funds. Don’t know fractional investing is all so big thing doesn’t matter whether you’re playing with crypto or you’re playing with stock or whatever, wherever you are, fractional investing is the way to go. 5.9 investments when I was young, I was unmarried. I never thought you know, had an option to put money into FY 29. And or very early part of our marriage and I was not sure when we’ll have children and will never grow. And if they grow they will go to college and all that I never did a 5.9 investment or not at a level. By the time I did it was too late. And what I’m suggesting now you do it doesn’t matter. You’re starting now you’re 2321 you have money coming in, just do it. One thing I forgot to add, I love Roth IRA investments, Roth IRAs are the way to do it. So if you have some after-tax dollars, and you qualify from an income standpoint, that is because there’s a range for that and you have to check what that is. Then as a single couple, you qualify them I suggest doing Roth because the Roth is you know your investment goals grow tax-free, not tax-deferred tax-free. By the way, I’m not a real estate, I’m not an accounting professional. I’m not a CPA, so don’t take what I’m saying. I’m setting everything with you for informational and educational purposes only. So don’t value what I’m saying. Yet value what I’m saying, buy real estate, buy real estate. And if you really want to be creative about real estate that is, okay, there’s a difference between buying real estate and investing in real estate investing is, to understand how the asset is performing, when to exit when to how far to stay when to exit all that. And you’re understanding the working dynamics of that asset. buying real estate, which is I bought a house, and live, is not an investment, even though in Silicon Valley in the Bay Area in some areas. In America, it’s seen. And we have seen real estate in general over the last five years. Incredible.
Now, it’s all over for whenever it’s over. But buying a house to live in is different than investing in real estate, there is a difference, I suggest you invest in real estate. If that happens to be in Silicon Valley, in the Bay Area, you’re buying a house, do it. But regardless, wherever you are in the world, try to invest in real estate. And whether you put that that money goes into agriculture, it goes into mercial in, you know, single family, multifamily doesn’t matter, whatever, whatever it is, but you got to understand how that asset class is going to perform and got to put money into it. The last one, this is a big one. And I want to wrap this up with this. Explore One income stream every year for the next seven years. Your job is to explore and lock it in, like literally lock in the income stream, whatever that is. This is a pursuit that I personally had for a long time in my life to identify an income stream and lock it in for the rest of my life. I failed at multiple multiple times doing it. And eventually, I started seeing success, it takes some time. But your goal is to set yourself up for identifying and exploring, exploring and locking in one revenue stream every year. But every year you will have to scout for many before you will really lock in one. So there has to be some time some effort, some understanding, totally given towards identifying that one additional income stream, you do this for seven years, you are going to be free. A millionaire, I think, well, I don’t think I know, you do that in this time. Right now. This time, you will be and I’m not even touching employees, like artists, CEOs and all that that’s a whole different discussion. I’m just making it very simple. Somebody, who makes money understands the spine understands investments, is very disciplined, and does that over seven years, will become a millionaire. Okay. That’s it.
Hopefully, this is helpful. If it is let me know. And we’ll talk more about this. I have been talking about it for a long time. And we will talk more about this the next day. Send it in a few days anyway, and I’ll have some questions for you on this. Also. Looking forward to it. Thank you for listening. Thank you for subscribing, and I’ll be talking to you as early as tomorrow. Go enjoy your Saturday. Bye now.
The Secret To Happiness
Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
Today’s podcast episode is for you if you are trying to break a bad habit. And today’s podcast episode is also for you if you are in pursuit of happiness. I want to continue my discussion from yesterday about books about learning. We have been talking about books for a while now. And I want to extend that thought. And I’m going to talk about a specific book. And this book is written by J. Martin Kohe. And the title of this book is Your Greatest Power. Since this book came out somewhere in the 1960s, I believe this book, J. Martin Kohe talks about a metaphor, I’m not sure if this is real or not, but it’s a metaphor, at least to my understanding, he talks about a touchstone is a pebble. When this pebble touches any metal, it turns that metal into gold. And this Pebble is found on the shores of the Black Sea. And on the shores of the Black Sea, there are 1000s of pebbles, and all these pebbles are identical. And this Pebble also has the same size, same color, and all that with 1000s of other pebbles. And the only way this specific pebble stands out is that this is warm, while other pebbles are all cold.
So an old man gets this information and discovers the secret and decides to go and find this pebble, he sells off everything, all his belongings. And he goes on to the shore and camps there. And he starts testing the pebbles. Now, he obviously knew that if he touches a pebble, and if it’s not the right one, then if he throws it onto the shore again, then the chances are he’ll have to, you know, again, he has to test it. Instead, what he decided to do was throw the pebble into the sea. And with that in mind, he starts testing the pebbles. And he keeps on throwing pebbles that are cold into the water. One week, one month, one year, three years, just go by all he does, it touches the pebbles and throws them into the water as he keeps on doing this. And he kept on doing that. He came across a pebble that was warm. But he ended up throwing it into the water. He got into the habit of throwing the pebbles away, that finally the one that he was looking for. He found it, but he ended up throwing it away. You know, happiness is one such thing. We’ve worked so hard days and nights. And literally, we just give everything we have looking for that perpetual happiness. And there isn’t, we become desperate, we become habitual, in search of that happiness, that we forget the happiness-producing events and experiences that pass by us all the time. Because we have gotten into looking for that big happiness that otherwise doesn’t exist. And I’ve gone on to say this multiple times on this podcast, there isn’t there is nothing called happiness. There is nothing called a happy life. There isn’t. We have happy moments along the way. And our job is to create those happy moments. So if you take each pebble an as a life moment, you’ve got to enjoy each pebble and experience each pebble and focus on all the good things that each Pebble is doing to us. Rather than waiting for that one big pebble that is going to completely change your entire life and I see that people doing it and there isn’t as I said there isn’t a happy life. And I hear a lot of people tell me that if I just could have done that thing the right way. But life would have been brilliant and awesome. There isn’t.
You are who you are. Because that last thing did not go well. And probably you are who you are today because the Other thing you did, which you never liked doing, but you ended up doing it anyway, is because of why you are here. And who knows from here on, you will go somewhere else, which is going to be much more bigger and meaningful, which you could not have gone to if you would have not arrived here, and you arrived here because you did something else. Anyways, you get the idea. You get to the point I’m always clapping and waving my hands. Yes. Hopefully, this study gives you some perspective on whatever you’re dealing with right now in your life. And you’ll start seeing happiness differently and you will start breaking some old habits that otherwise need to be you need to break away from them so that you can create that success that you are seeking.
That’s all for now. You enjoy wherever you are. Stay happy, stay positive, and I’ll catch up with you as early as tomorrow.
