Change What You Can, Accept What You Can’t
Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
Welcome, and welcome back to success with Srini. Merry Christmas to you. By the time I’m done recording today’s podcast by the time we publish, this podcast gets published right around 7 am. Pacific Standard Time. By the time you might have already unwrapped all the gifts that you might have gotten today, Santa might have already visited you by this time. Again, Merry Christmas to you, thank you for listening. Today, I will keep it very short and to the point. And I will let you go back and enjoy your time with your friends and family. This is a very special day. And it’s a special time of the year. So the message that I have for you today on this podcast is to change what you can and accept that which you cannot. And this is the message I wanted to share today because you know, they’re getting very close to the end of the year and New Year is right around the corner. And, you know, you may be having a lot of plans for yourself. And this is a very interesting part of the year.
And today’s a very special day. So you see Santa Claus is okay. At a tender age, young age. But it’s somewhat inappropriate for teenagers that discussion. College students are intolerant of inequalities in life. But as they grew up, they start to take responsibility for life. That’s when they start to realize that the world is somewhat bitter and somewhat sweet. So they tend to accept the world the way it is. Now, if you are in a situation right now, wherever you are, in your personal life or professional life, and you are struggling to accept things, and you want the world to change according to your wishes. Clearly, that’s not going to happen. So you grew up to acknowledge that Santa Claus is not real. You except you grew up to accept the fact that the world after all has its own issues. And it’s okay. The world after all is a beautiful place. And this is the life you have. And this is the life that you have to live. Either you complain about life and feel the pain and agony within you. Or you accept the way it is and move on with life. Now moving on with life has a lot to do with how you construct yourself toward the future that is awaiting you. I think that’s the right word. So over the next few days, we’ll start tomorrow we’ll talk about reconstruction of you because it’s very important where we are with this podcast and the time of the year and all that someone who I’m going to do some special episodes going forward. But then you see, it’s important that we accept who we are. And change most important change whatever we can, and whatever we cannot change we accept the fact that it is what it is. Okay. The reason why I’m highlighting that today on this podcast this point is because I meet people who kind of highlight their own issues a lot. And they believe that their troubles or bigger than anybody else’s troubles. And even though they do come across other people who are going through a lot of their own issues, they somehow do not want to recognize that they somehow feel that their problems are too much.
And somehow the problems have to be talked about and somehow they give a lot of time and effort to thinking about the problems. Now here is the issue with problems the more you think about them, the more the loop, and the more you get them. When I say loop the more you think about the more you’re going to be getting them somehow seems like they’re not never-ending even though they need to be left alone but somehow the way we have constructed our emotions and our the way we are humans are we tend to think about them a lot. So the more we think the more we invited them so we aren’t that low. You see it’s okay to think about your situation to be different. I base my situation was different. I wish my life would be different, but to constantly worry about that and think about that and get caught up in that for days or months. For years. That is self-destruction. Somebody asked me, What’s the definition of self-destruction? This is the definition of self-destruction. When somebody asked me, I did not, I couldn’t articulate that in that manner, because I gave a standard definition. But this is the most realistic practical definition you get consumed by your problems to such a point that because you wanted things to be different, you’re not able to make the changes. And it’s okay to say, Okay, I wish I had that life. But becoming too caught up with that thought and losing time, that’s self-destruction. So people who highlight problems, mostly are self-centered. And somehow they want the entire universe to gravitate around their own desires, their own wishes.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. So the key is, to change, whatever you can. And this podcast, this is a self-improvement podcast, and anybody who does whatever I’m doing, I don’t claim to be doing all this at the best possible level. But there are many people who do what I do. So I’m nothing unique, no different. Self-improvement is an essential ingredient for the change that we all are trying to make. And the change, the easiest change that we can make is within ourselves, we don’t need to see the change. That is that order if I see the change in your Danone, I’ll change it, that’s a difficult ask. And that change, that asks is an impossible ask that asks is never going to be met. So it’s better to change me, rather than expect somebody else to change for me. And yesterday, on the podcast, I talked about how this game is a solo game this life with solo as much as we think that we are part of this language, this culture, this religion, this country, this family, this company, whatever, it’s a lonely game. So quicker, you accept that, that not only that, you accept the fact that you are lonely, but you also accept the fact that you cannot change many things. You heard me talk, say this here on this podcast, you are, the only time you’re in control of anything is the day you realize or at the moment that you realize that you are not in control of anything. That’s when the real control starts. You heard me say this here multiple times, in order to live this life, there are only two ways. Either you control your expectations, or you expand your reality. So have a lot of expectations, and I need to really expand my reality, okay, I have these expectations. I need to meet them, what can I do?
What all can I bring, you know, what skills, what talents, what resources, you know, all that. So you got to constantly, or if you don’t want to think that way, then cut all expectations, let’s just live with one or two, that you know that you can match. Life is going to become blissful. simple, as simple as that. Okay, that’s my rant for today, go enjoy your day, today’s a special day, Merry Christmas to you, wherever you are in the world. And before you know it, I’ll be with you. As early as tomorrow, the start of a new week, the last week of the year, it’s gonna be fun, it’s gonna be fun. And starting tomorrow, I’ll go very deep into the concept that I was referring to a little bit earlier, which is a reconstruction of you. We’ll get into that. And we’re going to talk maybe that’s going to put us all the way into the end of the year. So I have a few thoughts that I want to share with you. Which by the way, is nothing new. I already talked about them and bits and pieces across this podcast over days. But then I’m bringing all of them together to a level where it all is going to make sense. That’s the goal. So starting tomorrow, we’re gonna be talking about the reconstruction of you so that you can empower Lee positively arrive to work on your goals starting the first of January. Okay, okay, so go enjoy, and I’ll be with you tomorrow. Stay tuned.
Three P’s That Will Make You More Positive
Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
Happy Friday morning to you welcome or welcome back to success for Srini. Every Friday, I start the podcast by saying I’m going to keep this to the point, it’s a weekend, so I’ll keep it short. So I’m going to make an attempt here and make today’s podcast to the point and very short. So today we’re talking about the three P’s that make you more positive three P’s are talking about making yourself more positive. You see, no matter how much you try to make yourself more positive, there is always something more you can do. And you could get this question all the time, how can I become more positive? And no matter which, which are where I answer the question, I feel that maybe there is another angle to what I’m saying, maybe there is another frame through which I can approach my answer. So I think I found a frame and angle. And I’m sharing that today with you here. But if you go back and listen to all the podcast episodes I’ve done here, you know, I think 70% Of all the podcast episodes here are all about how to become positive. So pick technique is not important. But the strategy is important. So these three P’s are the strategy. So let’s get into this. The first P is people. So if you are surrounded by negative people, that means you are existing in negative emotions, that means you’re listening to them, and some of your own thoughts are getting impacted by their discussions and their thoughts.
So negative people have to somehow go, and I probably have done 20 podcast episodes talking about this, negative people have to go, they don’t need to go away, but they need to be kept aside. So that said, obviously, you need to fill your life and your time with positive people. So you got to be constantly engaged in trying to make new friends meeting new people, and, and bringing them into your life. So that you have a large participation of positive people in everything that you’re doing. The second element under people is celebrations, you got to celebrate your wins, and you’ve got to celebrate all the successes, that you are having celebrations create an aura within which you can perform even more celebration and sustain the happiness feeling of happiness for a longer time. So, under people, it is getting rid of negative people and celebrating your success with people. And obviously, we got to be celebrating your successes with positive people. So the two things there.
The second P is practice. So rarely, do people do a lot of practice? But rarely people give talk about you know, they, they know that their practices can do contribute towards them becoming more positive and all. But for a new person who is not into practices, I will tell you in a second what I mean by practices here, but for somebody who is not Intuit, it’s very difficult for them to comprehend this. But practices what I mean is meditation, exercising, yoga, you know, practicing gratitude, engaging in the act of giving affirmations, all these are practices, you do them daily on a daily basis. So somebody who is not into practices at all, it’s very difficult for them to understand this, forget about even agreeing to this. And practicing this that is all comes very late. But if you do meditate exercises, some form of yoga, some practices of gratitude, some practice of affirmations, some giving these activities make you more positive. And the last one is the third P plants. Plants mean you need to structure your thinking that is within which we’re always looking forward to something in life. See, if you are not looking forward to something live that means you’re not living life at its wit. So you got to live life at its vet.
So always looking forward to something big. So maybe a vacation maybe as a celebration, maybe something big something that’s going to happen in the future. And plans means also goals. Under plans goals, you need to have goals, you need to be looking forward to accomplishing those goals. You need to be setting those goals, some long-term goals, some short-term goals, goals everywhere goals. And we’re just Hardly a week away from a new year, the beginning of a new year, and that word goal should be more valuable today as a part of our discussion than, at any other time in the year. So people practices plans. So these are the three P’s that will make you more positive. This was not about the specific activity, but this is more about an angle on how to close positivity. Hopefully, this is helpful. I’m going to stop here. Hopefully, it’s helpful. If it is let me know. And before you know it, I’ll be with you as early as tomorrow. And if you have a question for me, you can always text me at 888-818-0404.
That’s all for now. You take care of yourself. Go enjoy your Friday, and I’ll talk to you tomorrow right here. Thank you.
How To Study A Successful Person
Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
How to study a successful individual is the topic of discussion today on this podcast, welcome, or welcome back to success with Srini. It might have happened to you when you may have met a successful individual. And a zillion thoughts might have crossed your mind, what makes him or her successful? What’s the secret? Can I model can learn something from them? Sometimes I’ve also seen people who meet successful people and become jealous, sometimes even become envious of them. I’ve seen everything, but because we are talking in the context of self-improvement. I want to keep the discussion just to personal development. So you meet a successful individual. And, you are in awe of what they have. How do you study them? What’s the secret? He’s Darren’s method. We’ll talk about that on the podcast. And towards the end of the podcast, I want to share with you a resource that I want you to get, we’ll get to that towards the end. So stay with me. Okay. So there are four things that every successful individual displays. So we go back display because you meet somebody you don’t know, you don’t know, because you haven’t spent time with them. It’s very difficult to read someone at that level where you know everything about them. And then you have built enough understanding about them, it’s very hard because you’re meeting somebody for the very first time, maybe second time, third time, something like that. So there are four things that are the successful individual display, so we go by the display. The first one is their habits and behaviors, how they are behaving. And some of their habits.
For example, let’s say somebody’s extremely rich, you make them you consider them to be successful, that’s showing the displaying success. But then they’re very rude to people around them. They’re ill-treating their employees or they’re, or they’re mistreating their co-workers or people who work for them or something like that. So you see that something is wrong, they’re angry. They’re they don’t have the right temperament. Do you see that? And that’s the red flag right there. And at that point in time, if you are smart enough, then you may back off, no, yeah. They may have some success. But that’s not the success, maybe whatever the way they are talking, the way they’re behaving, is not in line with our values. So habits and behaviors are easy to spot because they’re on display all the time. The second one is their commitments, or values, commitments. So for example, if they give a word to keep the make promise, the key, and one of the commitments says that the family, their spouse, or their partner, or their significant other or their children, you know, what’s the how do they? How do they have it, how all that is aligned, you got in the display, that should be in a display that you could pick up from that, from the commitments and values. And the third one is possessions. That material possession. So material possessions are the first draw people look at you the car, you’re driving the house you’re living and the things that you’re putting across. So things that are that you can’t contain, you can’t hide, it’s there in the display. So people get attracted looking at that. But that is not a real way to assess an individual. But you get to see some you can read their possessions. And the last and final one is the way they dress and the way they dress. And talked I did a whole podcast episode A few days ago talking about this. You know, the way they speak the way they show up their mannerisms, and all that.
Now talking about the first one, which is habits and behaviors. Many, many years ago, I came across. I think this was an article or maybe a magazine, where they talked about an incredible habit that Lady Diana had, which was every time she used to meet a new individual. She would go home and send them a handwritten note tagging them, or whatever’s a handwritten note. Now, back then, it was not a big deal. I heard about the story. And I was like, alright, that and I was like, Okay, fine, no big deal. But when I started to implement this, it was difficult. It was hard. No, I meet 10 or 15 people in a day, and Lady Diana would meet, I don’t know how many people, you know, maybe 3040 50 people a day. And she would sit down at the end of the day and send them a handwritten note of gratitude or whatever. How is it possible? How could somebody do this? You know, what I concluded, later on, is, that does not work for her. That’s how she lives her life or lived her life. So that’s the habit and display right there. speaks a lot.
Now, that being said, let’s talk about what these are things, you know, but there is something beyond this. There are two things that I try to study when I meet a successful or when I see a successful individual on the display. I want to know their structures. I want to know how they use the time where they use their time, their activities, and their engagements, I want to know all that. What is their morning routine?
What is their afternoon routine? What’s the evening routine? How much time do they give on health? How much time do they give them money, and how much time do they give to their commitments, I want to know the structure. Of course, I want to know the routines that are said. But then I also want to know the people behind the success. Like they have a good family structure, they have good friends around them. They are having great conversations people. I want to know that. And I also want to know that practices, do the practice? Do they meditate on the exercise? What are the practices? I want to know so I will know the overall structure in which they operate. Now, the second one I want to know is the setbacks. This is a big one. I want to know the setbacks. What are some of the personal setbacks? What are some of the professional setbacks, emotional setbacks? And how did they recover from those setbacks? I want to know that I want to, I want to learn that.
So I want to know the structure through which they operate. I want to know the setbacks. These are the two most important things through which I study successful people. And of that, sometimes you can’t get this information. If you’re meeting somebody for, you know, two or three times you cannot. And obviously, you can’t find this in the public, unless they have voluntarily given some interviews or there is something being written on them. You can’t get this information. So you know what I do? I ask. I am notorious for going up to people or being successful and asking them, what’s the secret? How did you get here? What is so unique about you? This is incredible about you. I want to know the backstory. I want to know about your journey. I want to know the price you pay to get here. And I want to know how they recovered through some of the most difficult circumstances and how they carry themselves on a daily basis, I need to know that I ask. So the message on today’s podcast is to ask. If you ask successful individuals how they do what they do, they will never say no. They never say no. Recently, I saw a video on some social media, about Steve Jobs talking, talking about Bill Hewlett, co-founder of HP. How Steve Jobs was 12 years old when we were 13. He was in high school. And he called up Bill Hewlett and asked him you know he, I want to build something a transformer or something.
And I need this and I need that I need. And Bill got so excited about Steve Jobs that he ended up giving him an internship at his company HP. It’s amazing. I mean the story. And Steve Jobs says if somebody comes up to me and asks me something, I do that, but people don’t ask. So ask. That’s the point. I want to wrap up as a promise. I want to wrap up this podcast episode with a resource. That is something that changed my perspective. It’s a book that changed my perspective when I read, how to read a person like a book by Girard, Nirenberg get this book, read this book. And the last time I told a couple of people about this book, they said they can’t find it. But you should be able to find it in a library or maybe some other old bookstores. But it seems like this book is out of print. But reading this book completely changed my perspective on how to greet people and made me a better reader of human life forms. In all the different shapes and forms it expresses itself, some amazing book, get your hands on it. That’s all for now. I hope this is helpful. If it is, let me know. And before you know it, I’ll be with you as early as tomorrow. Stay tuned.
