How To Wake Up Early: Tips & Tricks For Success
Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
On the podcast today, I’m answering a question that has come in from a new listener of this podcast, asking me about how to wake up early. And if I have any tips or tricks, I just started listening to your podcast. And I see that you are big into morning routines. I have tried waking up early in the morning, kind of as a habit, but somehow I just cannot. What can I do? So that I can also wake up early like you? Wonderful question. I have done too many things in the space. And it takes some time before you really get this habit. But this is a habit, I don’t think I have any tricks that I can share with you. But what I can do today is I can instill some responsibility. Every time somebody tells me that they cannot do something, or they’re unable to do something, that means that they have not attached proper meaning to their intent, or the intent itself is weak. And there is some drop in responsibility. So if I attach meaning, and I bring in some responsibility into whatever you’re trying to accomplish, I think that will solve this problem. Now, waking up at 4:30 is not easy. I remember as a kid, I used to tell my mother to wake me up early, she would come to wake me up, and I go back to sleep over and over again. And eventually to a point where he started sprinkling water on me to wake me up. So funny. I’ll tell you why this happens back then, as a kid, I couldn’t figure this out. But now I know why this happens. So a lot happens for you to wake up at 4:30 in the morning, the diet the night before the sleep time, the night before, the temperature of the room, the mattress, everything matters. And I’ve done multiple podcast episodes talking about this. But then this question is about how to wake up at 4:30. The simplest answer is to turn the alarm on, schedule the alarm, and then you should be able to wake up, you can do a lot of other things to wake up early. I mean, there are so many, you just Google, there are still so many techniques available.
The alarm is the best way to do it. But then still people struggle with it. I’m kind of guessing here that you tried also setting up an alarm and then not being able to wake up or maybe you do wake up and you go back to sleep. As I said, I used to do that. As a kid, the thing that has worked very well for me is that I keep all the windows open. And that way, you know I started waking up at five o’clock when the sun starts coming out, I used to wake up. And that is how I started. And so I suggest that you keep the windows open. So there is a lot of light that comes in early in the morning. So you can wake up early. My 4:30 am schedule now is I’m only programmed to wake up no matter how late I sleep, I do open my eyes right around 430. And I don’t need an alarm as much anymore. But I still have an arm that’s programmed already to wake me up at 430. The moment I wake up, I walk I get up on a walk across the room, if you wake up and you stay on the bed for more than 30 minutes. That means there is some element of depression also playing a role in it. You don’t have a purpose, you don’t have a drive. So you need to wake up and you need to get off of the bed and go do stuff immediately. So these days, I wake up and I take a walk. And so that I come back and I don’t go back to sleep most people do go back to sleep now.
So there are triggers that you can have in a place like an alarm and you know somebody uplink, sprinkling water on you and all that you can do all of that stuff. But the most important part, as I said are you taking responsibility. If you are getting a day you open your eyes, you need to get up and quickly get into action. one other trick that you can you asked me about tricks. If you get a pet, I read this somewhere, go get a pet and program the pet to have its breakfast at 430 in the morning. The pet will wake you up at 3 am I promise you. But the most important one in all this is the reason why you’re not able to wake up at 4:30 that needs to be investigated. And I did that myself why I was not able to wake up at five or six in the morning. And what I found out is that I was going into a deep sleep not you have sleep cycles. And I was hitting the sleep cycles very late into my sleep like around three o’clock or four o’clock and I was paying maybe around four 30 or so I was hitting the deep cycle and the deep sleep, I would stay there for about 30 or 45 minutes. So if I have to wake up at 430, and I’m hitting my deep sleep cycle right around four o’clock, it’s difficult to wake up. So what I started to realize, and I started making the shift is to go into deep sleep deep cycle, the moment I fall asleep at 11 o’clock in the night, or 12 o’clock in the night, or one o’clock in the night, it’s better to hit the deep cycle, then sleep cycle then, rather than towards the latter part of the night, or early part in the morning. So this is a change. And this is where the quality of sleep comes in. This is where diet and sleep all those that sleep time, you know early, going to bed, all that comes into discussion. So I started shifting the cycle. And I’m starting to see that waking up at 430 becomes much easier now. So there are no tricks. There are some tips or tricks, honestly, all I’m suggesting that you do is take accountability, and take responsibility for who you are, and what your goals are. That way you can attach some meaning to your waking up early in the morning, I wake up because I want to read I wake up because I want to meditate I wake up because I want to exercise I wake up because I want to do this podcast. So all these things are in my mind.
Just waking up for the sake of waking up at 430. I don’t think it’s going to cut it, honestly. So not only that, you wake up, you tell yourself while you’re waking up. But throughout the day, you got a firm. And I’m now thinking of tomorrow, for today am I need to wake up I have to do these things. So it’s there in the back of her mind. So I’m affirming throughout the day what the next day is going to do for me. That’s all for now. I think I’ve answered your question or at least attend to answering your question. If you think this is helpful, let me know. And if you need a little bit more can go back and dig some other podcast episodes I did. Specifically talking about my 4:30 am routines. I think you already listened to those. But if not, let me know and I’ll find those for you also difficult sometimes. Sometimes it’s difficult to go back and search for them in the app. So that’s all for now. Wherever you are, be safe and I will talk to you as early as tomorrow. Stay tuned.
How to deal with Self Doubt & Limiting Thoughts
Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
Welcome, or welcome back. Good evening, everybody. Thank you for listening in. I’m starting the podcast today by saying Good evening because I just wrapped up my radio show. It’s exactly 7:34 pm Here in California, on July 12, 2022, just wrapped up my radio show. And on my radio show, I was, you know, telling people to call in all the listeners to call in, but nobody called them. And I left the show thinking, wow, okay, nobody called, Maybe nobody’s listening. But then turns out that Rakesh called in and he was holding the line I couldn’t see. So I could not punch the line. Or I could not put him on air. But Rakesh was nice enough to text me. And you have a genuine question. He says I’ve been dealing with self-doubt for a while. And you specifically said since COVID, everything has come up and everything has opened up. And it is demanding a different kind of behavior from all of us. For about two years, we were all hiding in the houses. But then now it is challenging a different side of us. These days, my self-doubt has gone up even more. Maybe I also have some limiting thoughts. I’m not sure I have been into self-improvement for a while. I heard your show for the very first time. What do you suggest I do? Incredible question. One question. Thank you, Rakesh for your trust. There are many ways to overcome self-doubt. I have tested a few on myself personally. And through all my hypnosis and hypnotherapy through my hypnotherapy practice and working with people, different approaches have been taken overall, there are a few things.
The first and foremost thing is to acknowledge that you have self-doubt which I think you have done. And you have done it very elegantly. You have given your background, you’ve shared what you are doing and what you’re going through. And you have acknowledged in fact, you call them technologists on it, which is commendable. So the first thing most people don’t do is this, and this is exactly where they fail. So you’re acknowledged. The second thing is to find the origin of this feeling this doubt, when did it start? Why do you think it started? What was the mental state when this started? And what was your social equation when they started? So there are a few questions to answer. But you need to find the origin of this, you may do many other things, but you never get to the solution part, unless the origins are identified. And sometimes these problems have to be resolved at the source. So you go to therapy and all you can tell the therapist is that you have done the work. And these are all the findings you have. And they can take those findings and can create a proper suggestion or can take a path that is going to resolve it and they can take you back regress you take you to the back and solve the problem at the source. So you got to find the origin. And you have to do that consciously. So take a pen, take a paper sit down and keep pondering where the self-doubt started. The third step is that you talk to someone. And I’m not saying go talk to somebody who is a professional yet. But talk to someone who may be somebody who’s parallel to you, somebody who is similar to you, somebody who goes through identical situations as you do, maybe at a career front, and not know where you have the self-doubt specifically, but somebody who is identical to you, maybe a friend of yours, so talk to them, I want you to remove this emotion out of you and talk to them. I think you have done that through the text message to me. But having a talk is very powerful. So start talking to somebody, in fact, talk to somebody whose eyes are outside of you. But then also talk to yourself, ask if this is happening, what can I do to deal with it, and just have an internal dialogue with yourself? A good therapist can instill a good internal dialogue.
So when you do see a therapist, which I do not, I don’t think you if you can resolve it yourself, don’t need to meet anyone. One of the traits of a good therapist is that can they can instill a good dialogue into you. So it’s a very important part. Most people don’t know this, but that is a trait that you need to see in therapists if you do decide to go the therapist route. So self-talk and outside talk should be with a friend or somebody who is parallel or lateral or equal to you. But then if you go beyond that, maybe a therapist then the next step is to write down your doubts. So the second step I said is to write down the origin of the doubt, then write the doubt itself. The reason why we do that there is a difference between these two steps. The reason why we write that out, is when you are talking about origins, you’re kind of doing exploration, you know why this is happening to me? Where did they start? So kind of doing investigative, like your investigative, you’re doing an investigation. But then when you, when you write the doubt, writing a doubt means that, hey, I have the doubt. What is my goal to overcome this doubt? So it’s kind of a more progressive, rather than investigative. Okay, so write the doubt, and start writing down what all you can do to overcome this doubt? Who, what do I study? Who do I talk to? What kind of data elements do I need to collect so that, I have enough proof to prove myself that, hey, this is doubt, this has no substance to it, this has no standing. And I have better, you know, understanding of this, something like that. So you write so that you can set goals. And then the next step is that you challenge the doubt. So if you do all the four steps properly, then the fifth step is to challenge the doubt. Now, all the steps to increase your strength are to increase your ability to deal with this. I’m not saying that you only have one self-doubt, I make people who have any doubts about themselves. Overall, they say have self-doubt, but there are so many doubts. And the majority of the doubts come from either misdirected thinking, or maybe some unconscious, reference that is existing in the unconscious mind. Or maybe they lack exploration.
So they just lack information. So you educate yourself out of this, that’s the message that I have for you. And one thing also, is that overall, if you do this, your self-confidence should go up. So the antidote to self-doubt is self-confidence. So you got to do whatever you have to do to raise your self-confidence. And maybe you don’t need to think about the doubts that you have. And simply focus on raising your self-confidence when you do that. It may completely Eclipse all the doubts you have about yourself, I see people increasing their self-confidence, and engaging in activities that raise their confidence. Sometimes I see people who, in the pursuit to overcome self-doubt, they raise their self-confidence to such a level that they become arrogant. So be careful that he had a thin line between self-confidence, heightened self-confidence, and arrogance. So you got to be very careful with that. That’s That’s all. That’s how I would you know, a quick question from you a quick, quick answer. As I’m recording this. These are some things that I will try. Let me know if this is helpful. If you have a question beyond after listening to this, you have a question. Text me back. And if I need to expand this answer, then I will expand this. But as I texted you back, this podcast is going to go live tomorrow, which is July 13, Wednesday morning at 7 am. This, this podcast is going to go live. Stop Thinking About Small Things
Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
Today on the podcast, I want to take a few moments and talk about something that I see happening with a lot of people, which is getting worried about silly things, spending time spending energy, spending cycles on silly stuff that otherwise does not need our attention. This is something that I have gone through myself in my 20s, 30s, my 40s. And something that, I think is a colossal waste of time. And I see this happening with people. And I have done my share of educating people. Every time I see this happening. Something that happened this weekend, this past weekend, a friend of mine, lost his credit card. And he was getting worried about, you know, did I drop it on the road? Did I leave it in the Uber? Or did I leave it in my hotel room, he was getting worried. And I was like, man, don’t worry about it, it’s a credit card, all you have to do is call the company and just tell them to cancel it or put a stop on it. But he was getting worried. And to a point that he had already spent like 30 minutes calling the Uber support, calling the credit card company putting a blog. And then, like spending an hour or so just cursing himself. Why does this happen to me? Why am I ignoring these small things which otherwise should happen without any mistakes? Something about me? And I’m like, No, it’s not about you. It’s about everyone, all of us go through this. We need to know how to recover quickly. Most people do recover quickly. But you are struggling to recover from it.
See, when setbacks happen, it’s natural. It’s normal for us to feel the emotion. But we can’t stay stuck in that emotion for a long amount of time. Because if we do that means we are losing the peace. This game is about peace events happening. It all depends on how you attach yourself to those events. If you attach positively, you give positive emotion to an event. Chances are it will create peace for you. If you associate a negative emotion will take away peace from you. This game is about peace, and you have to do everything in your capability to preserve the peace or add to peace. getting worried, getting fearful. It separates you from your peace. Many, many years ago, I read a book where I found two incredible statements, that became my affirmation for each and every day since which is don’t sweat the small stuff.
And the second line says everything in life is small. This life is small, your possessions are small, your wealth is small, your knowledge is small, everything is small, we are here, we are going to go away. This time, whatever time we have gotten, if you’re in your 30s, we are happy you’re in your 30s and 40s. Be thankful 50s Thankful 60s 70s, you had an incredible life, be thankful for every moment, many did not survive to be very warm today. So this is the realization that we miss at the moment. This is the awareness we miss in the moment. The idea of today’s podcast is that I want to convey this message to my friend not to get worried about things, which he does. He’s a great guy, incredible guy, awesome heart, but gets worried about small things. And I keep telling him all the time. But because I’m a friend, the message doesn’t sync with him. So I’m going to send this recording to him. But then this is also for you if you are getting worried because listen, none of us are important. But what is important is the peace and the happiness and the joy that you’re trying to create. That is important to you. So stay with that purpose. Stay with the idea that you want to create joy and happiness for yourself. Your life is going to become awesome, big, and incredible.
The most time you spent ruminating about the small silly things and getting worried about them, then you are going to lose peace. You gotta accept the challenge that you are not going to get worried about small things starting today. And you also need to accept the fact that everything that’s happening to you is happening for a reason. And you can’t reason with it. So as a human, you’re supposed to make mistakes. It’s okay to make mistakes and through those mistakes, you become who you want to become. And it’s a lesson. Every mistake is a lesson every lesson is experienced in making. That’s all for now. I don’t want to get into the splitting mode. But hopefully, I have come across you take care And I’ll be with you soon as early as tomorrow morning bye now.
