Plan, Prepare & Position

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

June is an interesting month of every year, the middle of June primarily, because this is the time when I look into all the goals that I set for myself for this year, most of them are at the beginning of this year. And I kind of do the six-month check to see you know, how far I have come and wear, what are the things that I need to change, and the necessary modifications I need to make so that I can get to the finish line, which is the end of the year. So six months, are good enough to make the changes. So this is the middle point, there is a process that I use to kind of recalibrate myself. And this process also involves my team, my entire team. By team, what I mean is not people who work in my business, my team includes my family. My team includes my brokers, my real estate agent, my attorney, my insurance broker, my admin, everybody, and anybody who is with whom I spend time with whom I talk, and with whom I interact. This is my team, all these people are my team members, and I look at them as if without them, I cannot survive at the same time. By just being with them. And having, you know, kind of thinking them as a part of my goals and my plan, I’m not only going to survive, but I’m here to thrive. So this is the time of the year when I kind of look into everything that I have done so far. And I make some observations and I take those observations to these people. And depending upon who that is and where they are in the mix and what I need from them, I plan out the next six months. So what I want to do today on the podcast is I’m going to share with you this three-step formula that I believe is going to completely change the game, whatever game you’re playing, and maybe if you are a goal setter yourself, and you’re trying to achieve some big things as a part of this year, then there is still time. And then maybe this process is going to give you a new way to look into everything and kind of set you differently if you are struggling. Okay, so let’s get into this.

The first part of this plan is the plan. If the plan itself is incorrect, it’s hard to create a life. Forget about just achieving goals difficult to construct a life. When I say the plan, there are some ingredients to it. Primarily, the biggest ingredient for the plan is the goal. And we talk about goals all the time on this podcast, I talk about this we’re watching this on YouTube, there are numerous videos I’ve done on goal setting. Every third podcast is about goal setting. The goal-setting itself is such an overused word. Listen, if you want to set goals, then you don’t need to listen to 20 podcasts, or read 20 books on goal setting. You just need a plan. Maybe one book would do it, or maybe one podcast will do. But for some reason, there are so many podcasts, and there are so many videos and so much content on goal setting. And still, we can’t get it. We have smart people but we somehow did not put ourselves in the place of setting goals. I just two days ago just did a podcast. I think yesterday I talked about goal setting. When I say the plan, that are more things other than goals. So the most important part is your mission.

Then comes your objective as an individual as a business owner, as a family man, in whatever roles you play. What’s the overall objective? What happens if you achieve all the goals that you set for yourself this year? Where do you see yourself next year? Or five years from now? Let’s say you get everything that you ever thought of in the next five or seven years, then what? What do you be overall objective? And why are you doing what you’re doing? That’s the start. And that question has to be answered. And I tried to answer back to the middle of the year in the middle mission objective values, what values are going to be helpful now that you’re here and what values are not helpful anymore? What can you change? And then comes focus then comes dedication all those things as a part of your planning, how much time can I dedicate for achieving this objective thing like that, those questions.

Now once that part is intact, it’s dialed in. Then we shift to the next part, which is the preparation part. And now that the plan in place, some elements of the plan may be the may have to be changed but then we go to the next step which is the preparation now inside preparation. We are starting to question our thinking, now that I have all the objectives, and everything figured out with a rock-solid plan, what kind of new level of thinking that I need to bring in to get to the outcomes that I’m seeking? What do I need to act upon? Are my actions right? Are they incorrect? Do they need to change? Then I start to question what I’ve accumulated along the way. And is this accumulation going to help, then comes things that I need to accelerate and things that I need to advance All that I ask as a part of the preparation process. So preparation process is primarily looking to understand the gaps and trying to see how they can be bridged. I have gone on to say this multiple times on this podcast.

Robert Schuller once said spectacular success is always preceded by spectacular preparation. So preparation is the key and if the plan itself is weak, it’s okay. But preparation is key. Because with a good amount of preparation, you can go back and change the plan, if unnecessary midway, in a way, I’m trying to do that right now, as part of my assessment. The third part of this, the third P in this is positioning. You need to be positioned for success. And success doesn’t happen by default. And all these things, the planning, the preparation, all that is positioning you to success. And those are the elements of positioning. But then the bigger part of positioning is that when you encounter setbacks when you encounter some challenges along the way, how do you hold on to the position, that means the position you’re taking in mind that I need to get this done, I want to accomplish this, I want to achieve this, how do you hang on to the position that is critical. So you need to have your support systems in place, you need to have your framing in place your affirmations in place, all these things had been placed in order for you not to move away from the position that you have taken in your mind in the first place.

So plan, prepare position, all these three things are possible. Only if you have potential. If the potential itself is questionable, then no amount of planning is going to help. Because the plan is no more about the goals and objectives. The plan is about to acquire the potential that in itself is a cycle of its own. It’s a whole different discussion altogether. But the potential is important. So you understand yourself building self-awareness, I did a podcast on this just a few days ago. Those elements are important. So self-improvement, continuous self-exploration, continuous self-assessment continuous. But at the same time, objectives, mission, values, goals, all those things have to be thought through and observed. On a regular basis, I’m doing that this is a part of the media part. But then you should do that quarterly or monthly. I used to do this quarterly back in the day. But then slowly, I’ve started to kind of have too many things going on. So title this once every six months now. But I think the point here is, that it’s not about being hard on yourself to do these things. But then it’s important that this has to be done. And if it’s done more frequently, chances are that you’ll have enough recovery time if need be, and can bounce back from anything. That’s not that may not be going right. But you get the idea, you get the idea. So my message to you is, what is your plan? And if you already have a plan in place, do you have a plan in place that is structured this way? I’m not saying this is the way but this is one of the ways. So I want you to do it. I want you to look into some goals that you set for yourself very early on.

In this podcast, I talked about the kinds of the kind of goals emotional, physical, mental, spiritual, financial, and relational. I spoke of that category of goals and look into those categories. See what goals you have set for yourself. Where are you? Six months now that we’re in the middle of June? Where are you with these goals? And what do you need to change so that you can get to the finish line? That was the purpose of today’s podcast. Hopefully, this is helpful. If it is do me a favor. Write a comment, write a review. If you’re watching this on YouTube, then please do share, subscribe to the channel, like the video, and all that. Okay, that’s all for now. Wherever you are, be safe and I’ll catch up with you tomorrow. Stay tuned.

These Three Questions Will Change Your Life.. Ask

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

It is now proven that the only way to change the quality of life is by asking good questions. And today on the podcast, I’m sharing with you three specific questions that anybody doesn’t matter who you are or what you do if you ask, you’re going to see your life-transforming, my name is Srini Saripalli, this is Success with Srini. Happy Thursday morning to you. Welcome, let’s get started.

Okay, three questions. I have been a student of self-improvement, I have been reading, studying and I watching YouTube, listening to podcasts, and I consume all kinds of content. And I’ve seen people talk about the kinds of questions that they are suggesting that you need to ask. I see questions like, What makes me happy? What is my passion? How should I be remembered all kinds of questions? I think those questions are amazing. I think those questions have a place. But here are the three questions that I know for sure, have changed my life. Because I live my life, I have suggested these questions to several of my coaching clients, and several people who consulted with me, have told me they have changed their lives. And again, interestingly, these questions are not mine. These are questions that I have studied. I don’t know which book but I did, so here they are.

Number one, before you step into any project, anything that you do anything, small, big, doesn’t matter, has multiple people working on the project, maybe you yourself alone, you’re working on the project doesn’t matter. The first question you have to ask is, what is the initial value I bring to this project? What is my initial point of value? Question number one.

Question number two, once you are into it like you have started working on maybe, let’s take an example. You want to lose weight. And you-you’s stepping in with this question, what’s my initial point of value, I’m starting this, what’s my value? My value today is this, I sleep less, I eat a lot, I don’t drink water, I don’t exercise at all, I don’t even burn 1000 calories a day. That’s extreme, but you get the idea. So you established the initial point of value. And now you start doing things to start taking action, your goal is to grow. And your goal is to change these values. Hence, you are getting outcomes. So as you start doing and you start taking action, maybe a month or two or three down the road, you pause and you ask a question, what is my current point of value now that I’m doing something for a month or two, or three? Now the Delta, the Delta should be positive, and the negative should be positive. And if it’s positive, or negative, it doesn’t matter. But you get an idea. Sometimes people go down before they come back up and all that. But it’s important that you ask the question, hoping that wishing that should be positive. But the question that you have to ask is, Did I grow?

So in a nutshell, what’s my initial point of value? What’s my current point of value? And did I grow? Those are the three questions you have to ask. Now, I believe on May 23. If I get the date, right, I did a podcast talking about the retrospect commit loop. And I’m going to leave a link to that podcast. If you’re watching this on YouTube on the top. I want you to watch that video. And for listening to this on the podcast, I’m going to have that link inside the podcast notes. I want to listen to that podcast because I suppose we’ll talk about the kinds of questions I ask so that I increase my commitment to the actions that I’m taking. That podcast is going to complement what I’m sharing with you right here right now. Now, how do you establish the initial point of value across multiple different projects, because I do many things, I’m sure you are doing many things. So you’re a professional who’s taking care of work. You may be a mom and a professional. You could be a dad, you could be a professional or you could be a stay-at-home mom or stay home that takes care of things at home. So everything is a project and everything has an initial point of value before you’re stepping in and everything is going to have a final point of value as you step out. The question becomes is, how do you establish the starting point?

Well, before you get into anything, there are only two things that you bring to the table. Any project two things you bring to the table. One, you step in as an asset or you’re stepping in as a liability. Maybe you’re somewhere between leaning towards liability or the asset. But if asset and liability are two endpoints on the straight line, you’re kind of somewhere in between. But those are the two extreme points. Let’s take asset and liability as discussion points for this podcast. Like a pot of acid, if you’re starting out in your career, let’s say get it as an example, you’re starting out, you are an asset in terms of your desire, your willingness to do the job, the qualification that you have acquired, your focus, your commitment, your determination, all those things are assets. In terms of liability, you do not have the skills yet. And you do not have the experience yet. Okay, let’s take that as liabilities. Now with these two things, you stepping into a project. And the product has its own lifecycle. And there are things that you will be part of, and use, as an individual, we’ll be doing a few things.

Now as that continues to happen, maybe a month or two or three down the road. Let’s say the product fails, the intended outcome was not there, there was a cancellation or there was a termination, whatever it is, the project did not happen. Now, in the end, you will look back. And at that point in time, you’ll say what is my current point of value? Now? Did I increase my skills? did I gain some experience? did I gain some connections? What are the other things I gained as a part, and how many of my liabilities did I convert into an asset. And if you were able to successfully do that, you will know that means you had growth. That means you yourself are successful. Regardless, now, once you have gained the skills and experience, know-how knowledge connections, and all that the newfound value will become your initial point of value. As you step into subsequent projects, you got an idea now.

Now, most of the time an individual’s value also depends on the circumstances they are in. Sometimes somebody loses a job, somebody loses some money, some business doesn’t take off some challenges, some sort of circumstances, circumstances do change the value of an individual, but usually, temporarily, if you keep, again, your focus, your commitment, your desire, your willingness high, you would come back and reclaim your position. That’s how this works.

The key is this, the key is that you set goals, and you work towards achieving the goals. So I haven’t measured these days, anything I do in the morning, I asked questions in the back somewhere in the back of my mind, you know, can I do this better? If I do it better, that means I have grown, I’ve grown. Even the basic things, I asked myself, can I do this better? If I can do it better than I have grown? If not, then Ah, okay. It’s just the reputation. Well, sometimes reputation also helps, it also indicates growth. But that’s a whole different thing for a different day we’ll talk about, but you get the idea. You get the idea, and goals, goal setting. And working towards the goals is very important. I have already spoken that multiple times on this podcast. But then journaling also helps if you keep on writing journals and every coupon in a way to track your progress a little differently. So that you can look back and reflect upon it and say, Okay, I started here and this is how my emotional growth happened. This is how my financial growth happened. This is how my spiritual growth happened. And you start tracking this by reading by going back and reading and that further strengthens the growth that you’re creating. And you will evolve yourself as a better individual, small, anything that everything that you’re doing. Okay, hopefully, this is helpful. If it is do me a favor. If you’re watching this on YouTube, drop me a comment, like this video, subscribe to this channel, and you’re listening to this on the podcast, then by all means you can also do all of that which is you know, read the podcast, write the review. And you can also share this podcast episode with a friend of yours or a family member. That’s all for now you have a question for me, you know how to reach me at 888-818-0404 call in with your question, leave me a message. I’m gonna respond to your question on this podcast. That’s all for now. Wherever you are, be safe. And remember to ask these three questions. Okay, bye now.

The World Mirrors Your Attitudes

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

“I am frustrated with the problems I’m dealing with. I want to change and I want to make the change overnight. Can you help?” This is the question that I have gotten over and over and over again across all my radio shows, seminars, workshops, and now this podcast. Now, this is not the exact phrase, but you get the idea. Every time callers in, and they’re describing a problem to me, the underlying ask is, I’m frustrated, I want to change and I want to change now. And for me, and also for people like me, who are in the profession of helping people overcome life’s challenges and problems. It’s hard. It’s hard to answer this question because there are so many different ways this can be answered. There has to be a lot of discovery that has to happen before this could be answered. But again, this is happening on-air. In just moments, you just have like a minute or two or three to answer a question like this is challenging.

Now, for me, over the years, I have gone back, and I have asked the question myself, which is when somebody’s asking me, How can I change my life overnight? Is there a way to change somebody’s life, overnight? It’s a question that I had been asking myself and too many other places, many other people. Interestingly, there is an answer to this. Now, when you look at the space, the self-improvement space, there are so many different frames and angles, and approaches that you could take. You could zone in on somebody’s values and somebody’s beliefs and somebody’s persistence and commitment and determination and knowledge and wisdom. It’s so many different angles you can take to change their life. You can tell somebody will go read and read for the next five years, your life is gonna change. You can tell somebody, listen, go exercise workout, your life is gonna change all of that works. But the question is, is this something because nobody has five years’ time to change? They need an instantaneous outcome. So the response has to be in line with their expectation. So the answer I found is the way I was raised growing up, I was raised in the Vedic philosophy, and one of the early lessons in Vedas. When I say Vedic philosophy, I mean the Hindu philosophy, the Sanatana Dharma. within that space, there was growing up, I read this said, Life is neutral. It doesn’t understand positive, or negative. And if there is construction, there is destruction, and construction and destruction are in sync. They happen in the loop. So one follows the other. And everything that you see is one day is going to go away. And your life is temporary here. These are some of the philosophies. And in all these philosophies, the answer is there is one thing that stands out which is life is neutral. Life happens to you the way you happen to it. It’s neither negative nor positive. So you have a positive frame, then life is positive, you have a negative frame, and life is negative. So whatever way you carry yourself into life, is what life gives you back. Then, I study multiple different schools of thought, multiple schools of thought, and I study not completely but as much as I could. And I continue to do that even today. Some elements of Islam, some elements of Christianity, some elements of Buddhism, and some elements of Taoism. As I start trying to draw parallels, I see the same more or less the same definition. This gets us to some other work that has happened in the Western world. And specifically, Harvard psychologist, William James, said, the greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitude toward mind meeting. If you want to alter your life, then all you have to do is alter the attitudes in your mind and life will change its course by to my earlier point, which is, that life is neutral, it only happens to us the way we happen to it. So what it means is we can control the attitudes of people that we are getting, we can control the actions of people that are coming towards us by simply controlling our actions and our attitudes.

So in a way, if you see this, our attitudes are nothing but mirrors, they are mirroring everything that we see in others as us happening to them. It’s funny. It’s such a simple concept, but then very hard to digest. So you stand in front of a mirror and you shout and yell, and the mirror yells and shouts back at you. So our attitudes, whatever we see in others are nothing but our own reflections. That’s us, in them. So, if I have to shift the script, or flip the script, then if I get excited, then I see the excitement in people. If I get happy, then I see people getting happier. If I become joyful, I see people joyful. So there are things that we need to do for that to happen in people. Now before I go, and specifically talk about what all that we need to do to kind of get into that state within which we get everything that we are expecting in others, or whatever we expect from others we get from others. John Maxwell, amazingly said this said you know attitude is the peak of the present, and is the profit of the future. So, if I have to tell you right now, and I already said that already 10 minutes into this podcast, which is if you want to change your life, anything and specifically this question, I want to tell you my life overnight, and I keep getting all the time throughout my radio shows, and this podcast, very simple. Change your attitude. Change your attitude, and everything in life is going to instantaneously change. You don’t need to read one more book, you don’t need to go alter your belief systems and values and all that keep all of them as is and just change your attitude and see the miracle happen and that’s the miracle. That’s your 2.0.

So people ask me this question too. I’m 1.0. Srini How can I become 2.0 or 3.0? This is 2.0, change the attitude your entire life is gonna change. Now, what can be done to change this attitude? Well, there are different ways there, there isn’t much again, changing attitude not much. We carry ourselves a little differently, we speak a little differently. We become intentional, a little differently. We pause and speak, we comprehend what others are saying and how they’re saying, We never mirror others. We compliment people whenever and wherever we can. And we saw some concern, which gives some appreciation. We carry some love for them. And then magic happens. And there is an experiment that was done. And there were a long time ago, I read the story, there were these two ladies who were working in a community hospital and they were getting very frustrated with everything that was happening. The patients were driving them crazy, the management was driving them crazy, and they wanted to leave. And right before the boat decided to quit. And on the last day of that work, they decided to do something like a small little experiment. And they said, Okay, we’re going to go around, and we want to talk to everyone, okay? And treat them with encouragement courtesy with appreciation, and when we pass compliments, that’s how we’re going to spend the last day at work.

So, in this part of doing this, an incredible transformation happens patients so suddenly are not miserable. The staff is smiling, the administration is interested in them, and all good things happen on the last day. What it is, that this is the law of nature playing out. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction very simple. And that any situation that is causing you frustration today, or pain or suffering today is nothing but is a reflection of your own attitude. That’s it. So you want to change your life and you become 2.0, adopt the new attitude. And the numerous podcasts that I have done here talk about the kind of attitudes that we need to drop and the kind of attitude that we need to inculcate within us. Haste waste greed, and self-centeredness. All these attitudes have to go away. And the attitudes that have to come in are things like concern, love, compassion, and a constant desire to compliment and appreciate and spread love all back. So, numerous podcasts I’ve done. In fact, I’m going to come back maybe in the next day or two and specifically do a podcast talking a little bit more about the kinds of attitudes that create the bigger outcomes that we are seeking. But then, for now, this is it. Nothing else, just change the attitude, and your life is gonna change. And everything else can stay constant, but only this. But here’s what happens when you change your attitude. Everything else changes. So this least expensive way to create a miracle in your life. Okay, that’s all for now. Wherever you are, be safe, and I’ll catch up with you tomorrow. Bye now.
