No One Is Self-Made

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

Good evening, everyone. Thank you for tuning in, I’m Srini Saripalli. This is Success with Srini, a show on Human Design, Human Engineering, and Human excellence. I’m here every Tuesday between 6:30 and 7 pm. My goal, my intent is to have an incredible conversation with you about your goals, about your aspirations about your ambitions, and such that you can have a dynamic living, such that you can set goals for your own self and you fulfill them and leave and live a meaningful life and leave an incredible legacy. That’s the idea behind the show, we pick a topic, one unique topic every week. And we talk occasionally if I have a seminar, or a workshop or an event that I’m doing, I invite, you know, promote that on this event. And sometimes very rarely, very rarely, a guest maybe you know all that. But the idea is simple. The idea is that I want to have a conversation with you. And the show is monotonous The show absolutely has no meaning. If this doesn’t impact you, it doesn’t impact you. It takes some pain away from you takes some suffering away from you, it instills hope in you, it puts optimism into you. If those things are not happening, there’s no point in official from me doing from this side, it’s very hard for me from the side, because I don’t see you I don’t know who is listening. It’s very hard to imagine the listener and what state they are in and what challenges they are going through. And just do a show like this. It’s hard and primarily it’s also hard because, you know, you probably are not tuned in to listen to a self-improvement talk is listening to music and John the music. And I happen to show up in the middle of the show up in the middle. And I want to have a conversation with you. But here’s what I want you to do. I want you to stay with me for the next five minutes. If you think there is value in this conversation, then stay with me. If not, I completely understand. You’re probably just a casual listener, you have no idea what this show is about. And all that may not have the mindset I have is everybody just happened to be listening to the show.

I have a few connected listeners who are who tune in and they do send me messages beyond the show. But then my idea is just that you’re just happening to listen to the show, and then you get some value out of this and then you become a candidate listener. That’s my goal. Okay, srinisaripalli.com is the website and the Success with Srini, this show has been on air on the airwaves for over 12 years now. And this show, and every day. I have very limited time on the show here. But every day I run a podcast, which now is reaching nearly 100,000 people a day. And all this has happened because of your support. All this has happened because you participated you walked shoulder to shoulder with me and appreciate your questions. Appreciate you keeping me on my toes every day. I mean, there is never a show that I have done here that is beyond the show. Right after I’m done with the show. I get text messages and questions. And there are some questions that I have not yet gotten to, to respond on the podcast. So what I do here is he’s I asked for your questions, and the podcast is a coaching podcast. So every day I coach on the podcast, if I’m not testing it out yet, do me a favor. Open up any podcasting app that you have that you use that you love, and search up success with Srini that’s the name of the show. That’s the name of the podcast. Download or subscribe or follow the podcast these days to change it to follow. Follow the podcast and if you like what you are hearing, listen to one or two episodes you like it then subscribe if not, I understand you don’t need to subscribe. Okay, the number in the studio is 888-818-0404, 888-818-0404 the number the studio now here is why I want you to call in today I want you to call him, I’ll tell you, this is what I’m doing. On my podcast. Most of the podcasts are designed to, you know, kind of talk to celebrities, and talk to people who will have some social standing that has achieved something socially.
You know, financially, politically, they have achieved a status. And, naturally, we want to pick their brain because they have already established the path to success. So we pick their brain, every host, wants to talk to somebody who is already successful. And something that I am trying, and I’ve started doing this is I flipped the script on the podcast, I’m talking to my listeners, I’m talking to common people, people who, who work very hard and got here you are in your listening right now in the car, you worked very hard to be here. This is not easy. And you probably know this or not. But it’s also not going to be easier from this point on either. So anything that has gotten us here, it’s going to take a while for us to get there to that next level. And there will be more challenges, there’ll be more obstacles, there will be more bottlenecks, and there’ll be more obstacles along the way. We, whoever we are, need to constantly keep on growing, we need to keep on building ourselves, and we need to keep on exploring ourselves internally, and externally. And there’s a whole level of different kinds of engagement that’s needed. If you are, you know, all of us want to succeed, all of us want to go to the next level. So you got here because somebody contributed to your success. Somebody, you know, the Mother, the Father, the brother, the friend, the teacher, some all of them, but some of them at crucial points in your life, they did something for you at a time when you were almost losing hope. It was you probably gave up. They believed in you, they stood by you. They were shoulder to shoulder with you. I think you can relate to this, I think. And again, you know, we don’t take enough time to appreciate these people. We don’t take enough time to celebrate them. We have taken some of them for granted. And the society has created Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, brother’s day, sister’s day, friend’s day, all that we do celebrate that in some level at some level. But then these people need to be celebrated at a whole different level altogether.

I’ll tell you something, I quote I mentor I train people. Not that I do anything different. Not that I do anything unique. There are many coaches that are many trainers, many people incredible people. And if you want to Seeker, knowledge is everywhere. If you are a seeker if you really want something you’ll get it question comes down to how badly you want something? That’s the question. And the quicker you agree to that question, the easier it’s going to be for you to succeed at any level, whatever you are, after whatever you are seeking, it’s it will be yours if you agree to that point.

So here is something that I want to do I want you to call into the show today. And tell me who is that one person, you cannot pick one person, let me tell you this. It’s very hard because, you know, people say that self-made, nobody is self-made. Everybody is made by others. And a lot of people have contributed to who you are. But if you have to pick one who really was there at a time for you, when you were falling apart when you were giving up when you almost said I can’t do this. And they believed in you they short support for you and they were with you. Maybe they are with you now maybe they were there for a small, little moment. If you have someone in your life, might who contribute to your success. I want you to call in on the show and tell me I want to learn this. Okay, tell me what is that that they did for you that changed your life? What is that they did for you that changed your life? And here’s what I’m going to do. I don’t know how many people are listening right now. I have no idea who is going to call in. I’m expecting that there are 400,000 South Asians in Silicon Valley. All of them are listening. That’s my mindset as I’m doing the show. I don’t know. So 888-818-0404 is the number. One more time 888-818-0404 is the number in the studio. Call in and let me, let’s celebrate for a second. Let’s celebrate. Just let me know what is or let all of us know. What is that? That who can’t predict your success, or somebody held your hand at a time that you were struggling that and you were giving up or at a time when you thought it’s, it’s, it’s out of your reach, or it’s hard for you or it’s impossible. There is someone, I know that everybody has someone, and I want you to call into the show, and let me know, here’s what I’m gonna do. I’m going to take three people, okay? And I will not only get you, okay? Not only get you but also get this person whom you’re celebrating on my podcast.

Okay, I’m gonna celebrate you and this person on my podcast, we got to go very deep, we’re going to go very extensive. I’m going to pick their brain and you will not become a catalyst within which you will help this individual we celebrate this and go over these individualists will celebrate them. And the message along with your message will reach more people. That’s my goal. I’m experimenting with this. Let’s see how far this goes. I want to see who’s listening in. So here’s the number in the studio one more time. 888-818-0404, 888-818-0404 is the number in the studio. I’m not sure if the line is working or not, I think it is. Let’s see who is listening. And here it is. Here is what is happening. My staff is listening to the show right now. My, you know, people who work with me in my office, they’re all listening to the show right now. And immediately after the show is done. If there are more than three quarters, then then we will go into a draw. But I don’t think that’s going to happen. I don’t know how many calls are calling. But then if you call in, then certainly the first three callers who call in are by default, the winners. But then if it is more than that, we’re going to go into a draw. But then, you know, my office will call you right away, right immediately away. And we’ll schedule you to be interviewed on my podcast. Okay, and they’re waiting on the other side that listening in. So the number in the studio is 888-818-0404. That’s the number in the studio. You have someone who changed your life, somebody who contributed to your success. Somebody just gave you hope and inspiration and a level of optimism. They believed in you at a time when you were not believing in yourself and you want to celebrate them calling 888-818-0404. I see the light on the board. Thanks for calling in your name where you’re calling from.

Because of him. It should have for me at the time when I don’t have you know, like, financial support from the, you know, the people I asked, but he stood up for me, helped me he actually gave her his whole home to me for you know, get a loan for my study. Like, I really want to thank him.”

Okay. Sure. Thanks. Thank you. Wonderful. This is wonderful.

Okay, let me go to the next caller here on the board. Thanks for calling in your name and celebrating today.
Hi, your name and who are you celebrating today?

“Hi, this is Shruti. And I think I would like to definitely celebrate my parents who live in India and yeah, so and I also would like to I want to appreciate them I want to celebrate them because they supported me throughout my life is struggled a lot to make me successful. And I also would like to celebrate my husband because after getting married to him, I moved away and even asked me a question is afforded me on everything that I would like to do. Now I’m working this course will you support me by like, I didn’t get a chance to listen to you guys since today because I always used to come up before this time but today I feel like I feel my hot house like thank you for doing this you guys are doing a lot like making us like realizing again that that moment that we spend with this important people. Thank you.”

Wonderful this is amazing. You know, you know I I am listening. The whole video is listening on behalf of fathering your husband. This is This is incredible. Father’s Day is coming up. So you know a great moment to celebrate them. And Shruti I wish you all the best and love to know your story. And we’ll get your father, husband, and all the people on the podcast. We’ll figure that out. My office will call you right after the show. And my time is running out here So thank you for appreciating it. Thank you. Thank you. Wonderful.

Okay. So here is, so I have just a few minutes remaining, if you want to call in today, I’m trying to celebrate people who contributed to your success, I have no idea who you are what you know, you listen, you’re, you’re a casual listener, you are a conductor listener, you are an active listener. And doesn’t matter. You are here, listen to the show. The number in the studio is 888-818-0404, 888-818-0404, for example, the studio calls and celebrates that one individual who contributed to your success and held your hand at a time when and held on, made sure that you hold on to your beliefs at a time when you were giving up and you thought all the roads were closed, all the pathways are blocked, and now you don’t see a way out. And they believed in you had just a few minutes remaining on the show. Thankful to Bourbon Abhishek Shruti, and round the money for calling. You don’t have four calls to call them. And you can see their heart where, where their hearts, where their heart is. This morning, I was in a conversation somebody said the world is falling apart.

You know, there is what happens, the economy is questionable. There is religious intolerance going on, everything is falling apart. And it’s a doomsday v as humanity, where are we going? This is proof the show today, this last 10 minutes is a proof that you know there are incredible people, there are amazing people, they have the values in the right place, they have the beliefs in the right place, they have the heart in the right place, they have the intent the right place. And you as you heard, as you have seen, and these people, you know, as long as these people around the world is a safe place, by the way, okay, and then they will be around for a long, long time. Okay. 888-818-0404 is the number of the studio I have less than three minutes remaining, I want you to call in if you have somebody who contributed to your success. And as I started the show 20 minutes ago, I said this, you know, nobody is self-made every you know, every you know, people contributed to towards what you are today. And even though they may not be around, you are still accountable for what they have done for you. See, if you read a book that is written by an author 100 years ago, you are still accountable to that author, as you’re implementing what you’re learning.

Okay, let me go to the board. Thanks for calling in your name where are you calling from? I have just a minute remaining. Please go ahead. Whom are you celebrating today? Ah, okay. Call dropped. Okay. No worries, okay. Let me try it. Let’s try this 888-818-0404. Let’s see, if you call in if there is a few seconds, I’ll take the call and Okay, add 8818040 for Father’s Day is coming up. And there are many opportunities within which we celebrate people. But then there is never a is a way where we really sit down. And we take their message to the world. What I’m doing is I’m just bringing in a bunch of the listeners of my show. And the reason why they succeeded is that somebody contributed to their success, and I’m celebrating them and those people who contributed to their success on my podcast. My podcast is a daily podcast. It’s available on all the podcasting platforms, including YouTube now. So all you have to do is search up Success with Srini, that’s the name of the podcast. It’s on YouTube, it’s on iTunes, it’s on Stitcher, it’s on Spotify, it’s everywhere. So listen to one or two episodes, you know, at least, you know, they’re all 5-10 minutes each day. It’s a coaching podcast, I train. People wanted to coach and they were looking for I don’t want to pay for coaching. I get it. So you know me I made it available to literally so every day since first of January. I have been running this show.

I have okay had several calls. Okay. Let me go to the first caller. I have one minute. Thanks for calling. Thanks for calling in your name whom are you celebrating? Hi, I’m sorry, I can’t hear you.

Actually, when I was doing my study, he helped me a lot if any bought books or books for me. And only due to him. I am here in the US.”

Excellent. Devesh, love your sentiment. appreciate your sharing. My time is up my show is closing, but my office will call you, and we’ll schedule you for the podcast. We want to celebrate your mother and whoever you want to celebrate on the podcast. Okay? That’s okay. Thanks. Thanks. I appreciate the call. Wonderful.

Next week, we’ll talk more. Okay, excellent. Okay, so, thank you. So my time is up. And I’m going to come back next week. We’re going to have this next week also. So Rao Nemani, Pawan, Abhishek, Shruti, Devesh. Only five callers, 12345. Yeah, five callers today on the show. So here’s the thing. No point in doing a draw. And they will schedule the time and they will onboard you into my podcasts when wonderful, celebrate everything. It’s gonna be fun. It’s the best gift that you can give to your loved ones. I promise you. It’s gonna be amazing. That’s all everybody have a wonderful weekend. Next week. I’ll be here. Thank you. Bye now.

How To Overcome Stubborn Resistance

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

Welcome back to Success with Srini. On the podcast today, I’m answering a question that has come from a listener of this podcast. His name is Vijay and he’s asking a question that is related to my June 1 podcast. In fact, I’m recording this on June 1. And what I’m going to do is I’m going to send this recording to Vijay. And if he approves, then this is going to be available as a podcast on my podcast, and I’m going to release this on a future date. If not, then I will not. I’m going to wait for his approval to do it. He says, “Hi Srini. This is Vijay, I started to listen to your podcast in mid-March. Thanks for doing this. It is immensely helpful. Regarding today’s episode, which is how to prepare for the opportunity. I did exactly something. Identified my opportunities, identified my gaps in skill, put together a plan, and tried to execute it. It all went well for a month. But now when I get to my focused block time for doing the prep, I’m not able to do it. I don’t know how to put it. I know I just need to start the process but am not able to do it. Could you suggest what to do to get over this stubborn resistance?”

Brilliant question, Vijay. In fact, for everybody who’s listening to this podcast, hoping they will be, which is referring to the June 1 podcast, June 1, 2022, podcast where I talked about how to prepare for the opportunity, as he refers to back. I said, talent, time, and team are the three ingredients that you need. Obviously, you need to figure out the gaps in your skills, then you need to make an investment in terms of time and money, both time and money are investments. And I also suggested that you need to have the support ideally the support of a team, I suggest that please go to June 1 of 2022. And listen to that day’s podcast where I talk in detail, I cannot illustrate this. Now as a part of the podcast, I talked about five things that you need to successfully overcome this challenge. And which I’m directly talking to you on this now, you’re referring to stubborn resistance. Now, there are different reasons this could be happening.

First and foremost in the podcast, I talked about purpose, initiative, imagination, discipline, and courage. These are the five ingredients. I hope you heard that. So on the very top is the purpose and at the very bottom is courage. Now, every time somebody experiences a resistance towards anything that they want to achieve these two, the top one purpose and the bottom one, courage, two are compromised. In my observation, I could be wrong. But these are the two reasons you need to focus on purpose, maybe the purpose is not clear. And that’s why the purpose is not well defined, the meaning is not well attached. And that is why when it comes down to execution, you know, the brain is defeating itself, there is a possibility of that may be that you have a tendency to wait for the vent to kind of come beneath the wings before you take off. Most people do most people, they just don’t find those themselves in the groove that waits for something to happen before they become serious in executing the work. And there is also could be an element of procrastination happening there too. You should check into that. Now. I want to also do this when I refer to the term called support in the team. Is it possible that the work that you’re trying to do during your block time? Can that work be outsourced? or can that work be done by somebody else, maybe you need somebody to talk to you during the time maybe you need some different kinds of accountability, maybe the accountability in itself is weak. Could be I gave an example of something like this on this podcast many, many months ago, maybe a few years ago.

You know, this was back in 2004, 2005. I was getting ready to put together a course on real estate investing. And I was thinking and thinking when I was never really putting it together as months went by. Days went by weeks went by months went by and almost a year went by. And this was becoming very hard actually a couple of years went by. This was dominant on my mind, but I was not doing anything about it. And the way I broke the cycle, the resistance was built-in accountability to myself. What I did is I went to a very expensive hotel in San Jose, I booked a room and I took my camera did and I said I will not leave the room unless I record this entire course and not leave the room. So the room was costing me about 200 some odd dollars a day and I will Now be stuck in the room to just get this done. Not a silly experiment.

Later on, what I’ve done with all my future thereafter, all the future courses did seminars like spend $1000 to $2,000. Or we can put a seminar together a record, the seminar becomes a course, that was the evolution from that point on. But this is how I broke my stubborn resistance. I want you to start building some accountability if you think that your purpose and your courage are correct. Okay, for purpose and courage are correct. I want you to build accountability in the middle. If not, I think this is mostly because there’s an element of procrastination going on. That’s what it is. Because it’s unusual that somebody identified the opportunity, understood the gaps, understood what needs to be done and the skills, and there is a plan in place. And kind of something’s happening when it comes to execution. It’s not right. So one way to also decode this is to go back in the sequence backward, which is, is my plan, correct? Is my gap analysis, correct? Is the opportunity that I have identified, is that, is correct? So I want can go trace backward? And that will eventually lead to the purpose, which is, is it even? Am I right to begin with? You can also ask that question. So give it a try the way I’m approaching this, and see if this helps. But I think this is an accountability issue, you need to build some serious accountability. So you need to isolate yourself from just not blocking the time, but you need to really position physically place yourself to get something done. Change the environment, change the location, change shift the time blocks around to different parts of the day, and find your optimal mental state to execute the time block.

Hopefully, this is helpful. I think I answered your question. If not, let me know. And then we could go back and forth on this. Now if you’re listening to this podcast as a podcast or listening to this, maybe you have an idea on how to deal with this. Now, I suggest that you go back to the June 1 podcast, and listen to it. And listen to today’s episode. And if you have some suggestions that you want to share, let me know to text me at 888-818-0404. And I will make sure that your suggestions go back to Vijay. Okay, that’s all for now. Wherever you are, be safe, and I’ll talk to you tomorrow. Bye now.

Your Mind Is Your Servant

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

Welcome back to Success with Srini. Happy Tuesday morning to you. Tuesdays are a bit busy for me personally because this is the day of the week when I do a radio show. What happens in the evening. So every activity that is leading to the time slot, I need to get all the activities done, and I need to position myself. Sometimes I go to the station, sometimes I do the shows remotely. So I need to get things done leading to my show. This morning, I woke up with all these things on my mind. And I suddenly realized that last week, I did the show on the human mind and consciousness. And I don’t have the recording. And I should be talking more about the mind and consciousness on this podcast, which I do not. So here’s what I’m going to do today.

So today, I’m going to share some cliff notes from my last radio show. Hopefully, this will be helpful. If it is do me a favor, and write a review rate the podcast. And if you have somebody who you think will benefit from this, please share this podcast with them. And if you’re watching this on YouTube, please leave me a comment, please subscribe to the channel. And that way I can reach more people. Selfish ask, I’m selfish, I know. Okay, so let’s get into this, Carl Jung said, there are four things we need. Thinking, feeling, sensation, and intuition. When we have these four things intact, we got to have an easy life. I don’t think he said that. But I’m saying that, yeah, you get to your thinking, feeling intuition. And your sensation place, that means you’re functioning, you’re functioning the right way. And because you’re functioning the right way, you will have all the happiness, all the success, whatever makes sense.

Now, for the consciousness to work, the mind has to work. And most people declutter their minds. They put too many things. And eventually, they become as if they’ve lost control. So they become subservient to their mind, and their mind then starts controlling them. Ormond McGill, the great dean of hypnotists, the Dean of hypnotists. One of the greatest hypnotists, whom I studied, explain this phenomenon, incredibly, saying, “One of our life purposes, is to make sure that we keep our mind clean, like a crystal.” Emphasizes that, like a crystal. We need to keep our minds clean like a crystal. He says, when we keep the mind as a crystal, they’re not perception, then we as a perceiver and whatever you’re trying to be perceived. Whatever we’re trying to put together as a result of our perception, all of these three things will work in conjunction. But every time you have stress, every time you have very overwhelming anxiety, and all those things, then your perception goes for a toss you as perceived as the individual who is perceiving you’re gone for a toss, and then whatever you’re trying to put together, that is also gone for a toss. And he says people you know, lose control of their mind and have no idea how the mind works. And then they end up listening to their mind. So things like drinking, smoking, and all kinds of habits come in, even though they know that they are doing it wrong, they somehow cannot control that behavior, because their mind is controlling them. And he says that he quotes Patanjali, the great yoga sage, Patanjali.

He says, “Patanjali put together a simple formula on how to control the mind. He says when you get control of the mind, there are three things that you can effectively and effortlessly do. The first and the foremost is you can tell the mind what to think. And you can also tell the mind when to think. And you can also tell the mind when to stop thinking. You get control of the mind. You can make sure that the mind serves you profoundly. Then he also says something interesting. He says people complain and happens to all of us where sometimes we feel we have no control over what we’re doing, there’s too much going on. How do you start? Where do you cut? Where do you pause? Well, he says if a lot is going on in your mind, all you have to do is go silent. Don’t say anything, don’t process anything. Interesting. Very interesting. You see In life, our goal is to become instinctive. We should be able to do anything everything with ease. But when we clutter our minds, everything becomes hard. Even the smallest of the small things becomes hard. If you place your fingers on a typewriter, you should be fluidly typing on the keyboard on piano playing. But if you have to think about every note that you have to play, to construct a song, it becomes hard, it becomes stressful, you will not enjoy this, and you will give up. And that’s why most people give up. Now, as you’re directing your mind, to think what to think, to think when to think, and to stop, when you want it to stop thinking, while you’re doing that, let the mind do what it is supposed to do. And your job is to just be a witness to what your mind is doing, rather than getting consumed rather than you processing it. You see, that is very interesting. If you go deep into this, even though the mind is within us, then we separate ourselves from the mind, and we become an observer of things that are being processed by the mind. Even though we are the subject ourselves, it’s very well put explained, and very well articulated. It’s very hard to create a separation. But once you do it, nothing touches you, nothing affects you. In one of the podcasts I talked about this earlier, our job is to stand on the side of the road of the freeway and see all the cars passing by going by. And our job is not to attach ourselves to each of the vehicles that are moving on the freeway, our job is to let them pass and be observed.

And he closes this by saying with the power of your mind, or the power of your mind can take you to the height of your genius, or down to the depth of insanity. The choice is yours. On the show, I also explain what can be done to bring back to get back control the mind. Of course, there is yoga, there is hypnosis, and of course, there’s a meditation of different activities. We talk about that all the time on the podcast here. And at my seminars, my workshops demonstrate, hypnosis, but there’s something that you can do today in your life. And I shared these five principles, which by the way, are not mine. These are the things that I learned also, one of the most effective ways to get control of your mind is that you start falling in love with life. And that you start getting involved with people, not superficially in depth. You get involved with people, you start feeling concerned for people, and when you surrender yourself to an objective. Maybe a career objective, you have a financial object, you have maybe a relationship objective, you have whatever you have, you got to commit to, you need to surrender to that objective so that all your effort goes and all your time goes into achieving that. And then you give your time to others. And then you explore. You spend some time exploring the unknown. And that involves maybe thinking studying masterminding praying, maybe meditating, maybe worshiping, whatever you think is right for you. And you do this, you’re enhancing the consciousness. I hope that this podcast is helpful. If it is I’m going to stop here. Hopefully, this is helpful. If it is let me know. I will go take care of other things and get ready for my radio show. And hopefully, if today’s radio show comes out to be a great show then probably I will have the cliff notes of today’s show on tomorrow’s podcast episode. That’s all for now. Wherever you are, be safe and I’ll talk to you as early as tomorrow.
Bye now.
