How To Know When To Leave
Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
Welcome back to Success with Srini. Happy Friday morning to you, the start of the weekend. I’m going to keep today’s podcast very simple to the point. And I’m going to answer a question. The question is, how to know when to leave? Specifically, this question is coming from a career standpoint, how to know when to leave a job? On this podcast? I have answered this question multiple times. And there are numerous episodes I have done specifically for career-minded professionals. And I have gone through this question. Now, every time a question like this comes in, there are two sides, there are two answers to this question. The two sides, two parties, the first party is them. And the second party is you. So there are things that have to happen from their side. So that you leave, and there are things that have to happen from your side so that you will leave. So let’s talk about their side. Okay.
First and foremost you have started to see that they have stopped taking your suggestions. They’re not seeking you out. You’re not been consulted. And you’re not been copied on the crucial email, that’s the second step. So first is they’re not seeking suggestions. Second, if they’re not consulting with you, you’re not being copied on crucial emails, then the last one is, there is no raise and there is no appraise. So they’re not promoting you. And they’re not giving you more money. And maybe they’re not also giving you any crucial work to do or any relevant work for you to do. So these are from their side. And from your side, small things have started to take a lot of time. Because you have started to feel that you are not valued. That means there is no fun, there is no happiness you’re deriving means it has become a routine. And everything has started to become harder, the basic things have become harder, that’s the first indication that you have to live or you have to dress. Something is a mess. You don’t know what it is, but something is a mess. And it is a missed for a long time. And you’re not able to find what’s happening. So your mood is not elevated, and you have a conflict within you. And that conflict reflects at home, not at work but at home. So at work, it’s dissatisfaction at home, it’s rage and anger and all that. That’s the time that you should change. Then the last one is you become anxious. And you are in a hurry when it comes to anything at work. So you’re anxious about what’s going to happen to your job, to your role, to your growth, and all that. And then you are in a hurry to kind of do something to get something.
Now, none of these things will play out in that sequence. They may all play out in different ways. But you get the idea. So a lot has to do with you than about them. Because usually what we get from an environment is how we happen to the environment. So our intentions are incorrect, we are not intentional about what we’re doing, we don’t bring the best side of us to the job to the worker on hand, then the environment reflects everything that we get from the environment is more or less our own reflection. So a lot has to happen and has to change within you. So sometimes it becomes expensive to make changes within yourself to fit into the environment. And that point you choose to leave and that’s perfectly fine. And people do leave. Now people never leave. Because the company is wrong because the money is wrong. I mean, it could be that but most people leave because of people. So you don’t have good relationships, you don’t have good friendships or good dynamics at work. And this has to do with other people, then chances are he will leave, and I’ve seen that happen numerous times.
SoI hope I answered the question. And of course, there are other different ways to answer this question. And depending upon where I am at a given point in time, I could answer this question differently. But these are some of the thoughts that are very dominant in my mind, as this question came in. Okay, That’s all for now I hope this is helping you go have a wonderful weekend and for me, I’ll catch up with you as early as tomorrow thank you
Focus on What Matters the Most
Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
Welcome back to Success with Srini. Today on the podcast, we’re talking about focus. And the title, the podcast is focused on what matters the most easier said than done. I tell you, it’s hard. If somebody will take me back in time, somehow into my 20s. And if I would have known what I’m sharing with you now, I’ll tell you, my trajectory would be completely different, a much more bigger and a meaningful one. If I would have known this early in my life, that’s the point. How to focus on what matters the most. So let’s take this concept of what matters the most. There are three things that matter the most. This is again, based on my understanding me working with people, me going through my own challenges me trying to stitch a life together, what I learned through my own life, and through working with people, the three things I learned, and I simplified this formula today, and I call it h, w. H. formula. So the first h in the formula is health, health, there are three parts to health. And again, you can break this down into multiple different ways, and multiple different parts, and all that but the three primary things in health.
The first is diet, you got to be careful what you eat and what you put into your system. You need to eat in proper portions spread out throughout the day, you measure what you’re putting in. And you understand what you are putting in that’s more important measure is not simply measuring the calories or the macros in the food in the diet. But understanding what you’re putting into your system. That’s step number one of the first part of the equation.
The second part is sleep. Achieving depth in sleep, getting an adequate number of hours through the night. Very important, most people miss this. And at one point in my life, I paid a heavy price, just because I was only sleeping two to three hours a day the night and I was not getting the proper sleep. Now I’ve gone on record. And I said this, a good amount of sleep is important, not the duration of the sleep. That’s also true. But there was a time when I was only sleeping two to three hours, but I was not getting the depth. So there are so many different podcasts I’ve done specifically talking about sleep, insomnia, and all that. And I’ve given all the different approaches that I have taken on this podcast. So I want you to just kind of go back in time and listen to some of the podcast episodes, and search for those titles. And you will find me addressing sleep specifically in multiple different podcast episodes.
The third part is circulation, blood circulation, the body. So here we talk about blood pressure and the unconscious functions of the body. And the best way to address circulation is that you are moving, you are exercising, you are working out. Whether you’re going to the gym or you’re cycling, or you are walking or you’re running whatever you’re doing, you need to do something so that you can circulate the blood in the system. Circulation means you’re burning calories circulation means that you are keeping the internal organs healthy. So diet, sleep, and circulation is an areas of focus. That’s the first area of focus because without health you have nothing, nothing, no amount of money, no amount of fame, name recognition, none of those things matter if you don’t have health. And I’ve seen this happen to you know n number of people in my life who had you know, all kinds of things going for them but they did not have the health, health important. Then comes w and w is Veldt. So the first one is health.
The second one is wealth. Okay, wealth has three parts to it. The first part is your active income. So your salary, your bonuses, your commissions, all that comes in your active income, the eight hours that you are putting in. Now, of course, you have business income, all that goes there, also, but business income also happens in the second category, which is the passive income. So active income has to be in place. And once you have that got going and once you have that in place, you go to the next part, which is the passive income in the passive income. You are now talking about rentals, rental income, you’re talking business income if you have some business that is running, you know, passively that you’re not a part of it. Then royalty income. If you have some residual income, for example, you recorded a song or something and it’s you know every time you play the song There is some royalty, you get paid all that. And once you’re out of that bucket, now the third part of this is what is called the portfolio income. Okay? Now portfolio income has things like capital gains, your shares, your stocks, your collectibles if you have any Cryptos, all that come under portfolio income. These are the building steps for wealth creation. So we got the health part we focus on, we focus on the wealth part, the second part.
And the third part, which I believe is the most important part, but I deliberately have put it in the third level because most people can relate to one and two. And three is when they graduate to wanting to that means they go through and face hurdles with their health, they face some challenges with their wealth. And that’s when they start valuing the third one, which is happiness. Happiness. Let’s talk about how do you create happiness, first and foremost, but also it has three parts to it. The first part is that you forget, you need to build an ability to forget, if somebody has done something to you, and has said something to you, you forget, it’s amazing even you forget, it’s a skill that you are, can be developed, some people are blessed with, then the second part to this is to forgive. So you forget. And you also forgive people, people who do anything incorrect to you. And you also forgive yourself, what’s even bigger, you made a mistake, something happened, something you did not do, right? You forget, and you forgive yourself, and you move on. And there are so many things I did. In fact, just a few days ago, I did an episode specifically saying talking about this one aspect. And I was quoting Lisa Nichols in her book abundance. Now, you know how to move past some of the mistakes of the past and don’t just make them as an excuse to move forward in life. I talked about that. So forgive yourself, and then you move on.
The third part is forward. And what do I mean by forwarding is, we constantly build our minds to stay inquisitive about life, what can I learn? What can I see? What can I observe? What can I simulate? What can I give up? All these things bring happiness. And forwarding also means that you pursue your passions, you pursue your hobbies, all that that’s how you forward yourself. So these are the three areas to focus on, we’ll start with help, followed by wealth, followed by happiness, and you want to alter these things you can, and once you attain this is very difficult to attain all these three miles away in the lifetime. But that shouldn’t be a concentrated effort. And they should be pursued to address all these three. We can do that. That’s how we know that we are focusing on that which matters the most. And of course, I didn’t even touch relationships and, and all those things. There are so many other things to this, but they all come under happiness.
That’s all for now. I hope this is helpful. We’ll see. Maybe I’ll come back and add some more thoughts to this in an upcoming podcast episode. But for now, this is what it is. And here we are. Talk soon, bye now.
Optimism Is Everything
Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
Today on the podcast, we are talking about optimism. Something that I have done numerous podcasts about the benefits, the need, the outcomes of becoming a positive individual things that you have to do to become positive in life, all that stuff I covered. But today’s podcast episode is a little different in the sense that I’m sharing a little bit of the science, the aspect of science in optimism, and some research information, something that I did not share before. hard word School of Public Health did research. And they believed in the research, they surveyed about 70,000 women over a period of eight years as a part of the study, and they found out that 31% of that pool of women will end up living longer because they are optimistic, they have an optimistic approach towards life. Very important.
Now, there are several other studies like this, and we don’t need to study to become excited about the topic of optimism. Now let’s understand how optimism from a scientific standpoint works. And this is something that I recently found out 50% of our optimism, the way our brain works is genetics comes from the genes 40% is us through our work by reading a book having a good conversation, working with the right people in the right environment, interacting, just feeling good about ourselves and looking at the world. With a positive frame of view, that’s where the 40% comes from. And then 10% is through others giving to us. So you going and giving a motivational talk inspiring someone in, you know, as a result of that a certain level of optimism is instilled in them. So all that is 10%.
Now, at the core of all this is that you got to view the world from an optimistic frame. Okay, now, let’s understand, you’ve seen movies coming out. And you see how academies, you know, different movie industries. They do award functions, and they give awards themselves to the actors or directors. So it’s true in companies to in the corporate structure, do people get awards rewards, we don’t have those in our families, honestly. But families in themselves as an entity should have some rewards too. And we do that in bits and pieces, we celebrate birthdays, we celebrate anniversaries, things like that. But then there is no structured way of recognizing someone other than it’s a huge milestone and you inviting like hundreds of people something like that. What is not proven is when you give praise, and I talked about praise also, nearly 10 days ago, I was talking I was quoting the book, How to have confidence and power in dealing with People by Les Giblin, and Les Giblin talks about how praise is proven. How to do a mike a miracle every day as and as a part of that. He says to give praise to people. And praise is something that anybody can give anyone. So say thank you say, you know, appreciate someone by simple words, it talks about that. And in the podcast, I believe that was on the first of May. We know now that praise, awards, money, love, all kinds of recognition, and all kinds of these things. The impacts the brain. So they impact two parts of the brain. The first is the amygdala area of the brain. And also the part of the brain is known as RSCC, which means rostral anterior cingulate cortex. When people listen to praise, get awards, or get recognition, the amygdala area and the RSCC area of the brain get stimulated. And as a result of that, they go do more creative things.
So it is not about the academy giving awards to people or movie industries giving awards to themselves. But by doing that, the creative people are now even more motivated to go so it raises the optimism levels. Interesting. And there is also independent data now that you awards and money recognition, praise and all They just a dopamine level of the cortex. So we all need to be praised to be performing at higher levels. So amazing. And praise also clearly instills optimism. At any point in time, if somebody looks at you, somebody meets you, you need to come across as if you’re optimistic. You cannot be coming across, down low, with your own emotions pulling you down, and you’re saying things to them to pull them down. Love to be with people who always pull me up with them, or Push me higher than them always. And it’s amazing. To put it back to happening, you have to operate from an optimistic frame. Right? You have to see the world as if the world is a beautiful place things great things are happening. Not all the negativity and everything that’s constantly coming at us through the media. We need to look at the world as if amazing things are happening. Nature is playing its role creation is happening in the world, you know, amazing things are happening. And with that frame. When we happen to live, obviously some part of that is going to fall on us. It’s natural that we attract some part of that.
Okay, that’s all hope this is helpful. Hopefully, you get some ideas from this. Hopefully, this is going to motivate you to start seeing the world from an optimistic frame and force you to start making everybody around you optimistic by giving them praise and things like that. So go and start stimulating other people’s amygdala and as well as our sec. Okay, that’s the message on this podcast. Okay, that’s all for now. I’ll catch up with you tomorrow. Stay tuned.
