Hypnosis Vs Mediation: Which One is Better?

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

Welcome back. Happy Saturday morning to you on the podcast today I’m taking up a question that has, I think I answered numerous times on my radio show. This is the question that I answered the most number of times on my radio show. And this is the question that I have proactively from my side, tried to answer without ever being asked. But today, I’m doing this episode because yesterday, somebody asked me this question. So the question is, what’s the difference between hypnosis and meditation? Being from India, you should be talking more about meditation and yoga. I don’t see you talk about it as much. Why. Okay.

First of all, I’m a big believer in yoga and meditation. Those are the roots and born into that, as have started to see the world. I even love it more. I comprehend the power of yoga and meditation. As a young kid, I started doing yoga. I did not get into meditation as much as I was growing up. But then now at this age after seeing living as long as I have lived, I have a special respect, special love, special appreciation for meditation, and yoga. So I just want to make it very clear that I’m strong I’m a student, I’m a learner. I’m an appreciator or whatever. I’m just a big fan. Now. At any point in time through in any of my seminars and workshops, I never said that hypnosis is the ultimate mind-bending tool. I have never said that. It is one of the mind mending tools. It is as old as mankind is, and is one of the most ancient tools available. And there is a part of hypnosis available in every religion, in every line of belief. In every practice, across every country, in the world, and every region in the world. There is some element of hypnosis, stop word meditation for a second meditation is a way to get into a hypnotic state of meditation is to get into hypnotic state-guided meditation and hypnosis, they go hand in hand, they’re extremely identical. They’re not similar. They’re identical, extremely identical.

So question I become says, what do we achieve with hypnosis and what do we do with meditation, meditation allows you to get into a hypnotic state within which you have heightened your awareness, and you have increased your focus. And overall, you have now discovered a part of you that can heal yourself in meditation. In hypnosis, you have a heightened awareness. You have heightened focus, similar. But then hypnosis allows you to be very objective with that, which you’re trying to do. For example, you want to lose weight, you want to quit smoking, you want to overcome anxiety, you want to overcome overwhelm, all these things can be structured into a hypnotic session. So hypnotic session has a start and an end, the end being a suggestion to the unconscious mind to achieve a certain outcome. Meditation is a holistic approach to the kind of activating everything and achieving a sense of heightened hypnotic state within which you may choose or you may not choose a specific outcome, but overall, you maintain an incredible state. With everything that’s happening in your life, you could achieve that that’s why meditation, I look at it this way, meditation is the foundation. But then you start putting pillars on top of it, which could act as you know, the structure that you want to build. And once the structure is in place, you still need the foundation, you don’t see it. Okay? And the pillars could be different things that you would like to take out from your system, all you want to instill into your system, and you do that using hypnosis. I hope this analogy is right. And I’m hoping I’m getting the point across.

By the way, there are different definitions of this, and every time I get into an intellectual discussion with other hypnotists and other practitioners of yoga, and meditation, we tend to agree but we also tend not to agree because it’s such it’s we are small as individuals. We are very small to have a say in such an incredible discussion. And most of the time these discussions lead to confusion at our level when we are sitting and talking about things, but the bottom line is this, you want to achieve a positive state, you want to achieve calmness in you, you want to achieve a stress-free state, or you want to lead a stress-free life. Do whatever makes sense to you. If you want to subjectively take some things out of your life, try hypnosis, if you want to collect will increase everything in your life, try meditation, and yoga, see there is a place for everything. The key is this, the key is that you want to be experiencing life on a daily basis, in its highest state. So use anything that you want to use. But don’t get into this debate of which is right which is wrong, why they should be this way why that should be that way. We are too small, but just individuals. We are. We are existing here that have been incredible people ahead of us, there will be incredible people after us.

There is so much wisdom, so much knowledge, there’s so much for us to absorb, learn from, and make meaning out of this life, I would have to focus on that. I have traveled and depreciated everything that I have seen, I have learned and I’ve never placed one about you about the other. They all are God’s blessings to us, to mankind to heal itself, and to everything that comes. Why not we take it after all. We are humans. That’s all. I know, you may have more questions, I’d love to take your questions on this topic and go a little bit deeper on this. Maybe I will do that over the next few episodes here. But then, hopefully, this will remove some misconceptions, maybe that is associated with hypnosis. Again, both hypnosis mind bending tool, it creates awareness. It creates a heightened response to a suggestion used to heal. It’s used to create new realities. It is used to remove some incorrect perceptions and remove some imprints from the mind altogether a new kind of reality and give you the start that you’re seeking. Hopefully.

Okay, I want to stop here, and we’ll catch up tomorrow. Have a wonderful Saturday. Bye now.

Lost Fitness? Here is How You Restart

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

Today’s podcast episode is somewhat unusual because we are talking about fitness on the podcast today. This has a lot to do with my own journey. This is something that I struggle with on a daily basis myself. I’ve been lately struggling with it because there are too many things going on. And I’ve not been able to focus on it as much as I should. And I should, because I’m on a public platform like this. And I talk about fitness, I talk about health, I talk about weight loss. And if you talk about something that you do not do, then there is a problem. Okay, you got to the point. There are numerous episodes on this podcast where I talk about fitness, I talk about weight loss, specifically using hypnosis as a medium to lose weight to get fit. Weight loss is one aspect, but getting fit, and staying fit. That’s a whole different area altogether.

Numerous podcast episodes have been done, I’ve interviewed people, and I’ve shared my experiences. But I keep getting this question. Now how do I lose weight? How do I become fit? And every time I get a question, I look at myself in the mirror and say, Okay, well, I was 100 Somebody three pounds six months ago and answered this question. Today, I gained a few pounds. And I’m getting a question from a listener of my radio show or an email subscriber, or the listener of this podcast? Am I qualified to answer this question? And I go through this, I go through this. So I got a question. And naturally, that’s why I’m doing the podcast today. Is this specifically taking this up? I got a question. And, and I look, and I measure every day. And I’ve been seeing that my weight has been going up for the last three months and on an upward trajectory. So three months ago, I was at 173 pounds. And today I’m at 180 pounds.

So what has gone wrong, what changed, I’m still doing activities, I’m very active, and I still do the activities that are necessary to lose weight. But there are two unconscious things well, one conscious and one called unconscious thing that has happened with me, and I’m going to be very clear on that on today’s podcast because maybe this is also happening with you. And if odd may have happened to you, you can relate to it. That’s the goal. The first thing that happened that’s gone wrong with me is that I go to meetings, and I eat, I go to dinner meetings, I go to lunch meetings, I go to different meetings. And every time I’m with people I eat. And I’ll tell you, regardless of which weight loss program you’re in if you don’t control your calorie intake. If you don’t control what you’re eating, you don’t measure what you’re eating. And you don’t time what you’re eating, you are going to lose out in this game. It doesn’t matter who the fitness expert is, it doesn’t matter who you paid. It doesn’t matter what kind of program you’re on and what kind of all the different awards the program has gotten or the trainer has gotten doesn’t matter. If you don’t measure, then you cannot change. So if you don’t measure the intake, people burn them out, they measure them out, they don’t measure the in. Again, just a few days ago, I talked about this. I think three days ago, I talked about this. So that’s the first mistake I made, which is I’m eating food that I’m not able to measure. So you go to a restaurant you eat. Now, at home, I can look at food. And I can tell you how many calories are there in it. If you show me a cup of tea, I can tell you how many calories are there. You tell me what kind of milk you’re using, I can tell you the calories. I can look at a cup of lentils, I can tell you the boiled lentils I can tell you a cup or a half a cup or a quarter cup, I can tell you the calories in it. Why? Because I’ve measured it so many times. It doesn’t matter. I don’t measure it anymore. I’ve become really good at it. So my eyes can identify my mind can process because it’s a habit. But the minute I go out and I start eating in the meetings on call unconscious response. If you leave your hands empty, and you have food in the front, and your brain is engaged in talking to someone, the default behavior of the hand is to go to the food and take the food into the mouth. I’ve seen this and experienced it.

I see this repeating in my behavior and everybody else’s behavior is such a challenge to control the hand to move to the mouth so the first thing first mistakes on my side, which is I can understand. So first of all I should be avoiding going to these meetings. And if at all I do need to keep this meeting small, and I shouldn’t meet at a place where there is a lot of flavor and aroma and all that. And I should make these meetings quick. But the first thing, the second thing that has gone wrong is that I am scheduling my time to go to the gym. And I don’t go very unusual of me and talk about peak performance. And I do these podcasts, I do seminars, workshops on change. How do you go back and restart this right now before I go into the restart pot, the like, I schedule my time, and I don’t go. Okay, so there’s a second one that’s going wrong. And most of the time that is guilt, you schedule time, you want to go to the gym guilt, you don’t go your guilt. This guilt is killing me from the inside. So I will do this tomorrow. And we’ll do this tomorrow.

There’s a third element to this also, which is my morning routine got compromised because I’ve been so busy doing too many things. In busy. So the morning doesn’t start in the morning. My morning starts late morning. So if my morning starts late morning, then guess what happens to the afternoon, it’s late, then evening, late at night becomes evening, or night becomes afternoon sometime that means I’m sleeping late. See, it’s if Val oiled. Machine, that’s what life is. And if it is not, then it’s not going to operate, there is no way you can establish the cadence. So, people who do not establish a cadence when it comes to fitness, work, or any aspect of life, they will lose out. So there is a hustle part, there’s the beginning for everything. But once the beginning part is done once, once the hustle is over, there has to be a system in place. That should be very predictable. That should operate. So this is what I’m doing now. Now. Right? You know, how do we capture this? How do we get it back this is something that you may be thinking if you’re with me up to this point, you can you are with me, you’re listening to everything that I’m saying. And you’re listening to things that I’m not saying, right?

You can listen to the inner side of me on this problem, you start to see that, you know, you may be questioning yourself, and how do you get out of the situation? Well, a few ways you can get out of the situation. The first and the foremost is and this is what I’m doing. Let me talk about what I’m Ben I am now the first thing I’m fixing is my sleep. Sleeping early, waking up early. Okay, so I get back to my morning routine, I have lost my morning routine in the last six weeks. So I’m trying to get it back. So once I get back to my morning routine, I’m now adding four and a half hours to my day. So forth. That is where I used to wake up. And now I’m getting delayed because I’m sleeping pretty late. So that has to be changed, number one. And number two is once that pot is in place. Now I have time, or now I have what do you call enough leeway to go and workout to do workout sessions one in the morning, one in the evening. That’s what I’m structuring now. Which already I mean, by the way, but by the way, I’m doing this podcast today is because I’ve already had these things in place. Okay. And then obviously, minimizing the meetings and not eating anything that I cannot measure. That’s it. So from the outside, I cannot measure I cannot eat. So if at all I have to eat something outside, I need to have the serving size and the calorie count on the food mentioned. If not, I won’t.

That’s how this works. That’s my moral. Now, how can you do this in your situation, let’s say and maybe your situation is very extreme, let’s say or maybe it’s not? How do you fix this on your site? Well, there are some recommended methods and there are these methods have called out also on this podcast before the first and foremost is that you start your fitness journey and your social journey. So you find someone with whom you can go for a hike, or you can go for a swim or you can go for a bike ride or you can think you know, go under the sun. I talked about this multiple times. And then I would only focus on one thing to change Here I’m focusing on multiple things in my situation, but then only change one thing, maybe change the diet. But don’t worry about your fitness. Don’t worry about going to the gym or going to the gym, don’t worry about the diet for now. But in the long run, you cannot just make it with the gym, you have to fix the diet, period, no doubt about it. But the most important part is you need to find a way to enjoy all this. That’s the crux of this.

You got to enjoy fitness, you got to enjoy the diet, you got to enjoy the activity itself. If not, this is going to be a failed exercise. But above all, the only thing on today’s podcast episode, the only takeaway is this, that anything that you want to do, you have to start doing anything that you want to do, you have to start doing. So start. Don’t worry about the numbers. Don’t worry about the metrics. Don’t worry about the outcome. Don’t worry about how it’s all going to work out, just start doing it. And slowly but surely do it for a long amount of time. So commit to a long amount of time, but start doing it without any expectations. The challenge with fitness is that the improvements are minimal. And it’s on a day-to-day basis. But you’ll need a lot number of days to see a significant amount of improvement. So just start.

Stop Being An Information Addict

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

Welcome back to Success with Srini. Today on the podcast episode, I’m highlighting a standout addiction, an addiction that we all have within us in some proportion. And all of us are struggling with it. We do not know that yet, or we don’t know about it. And what can we do to overcome this addiction the specific addiction is called information addiction. Thanks to this we are subscribed to Facebook, Twitter, and all the other social media of the world. We are spending a significant amount of time of our time a day on these apps. And we are making them a big part of our life. And a significant part of our day is slipping away because we are scrolling. If that is who you are, then this podcast episode is for you. And that is who I am.

By the way. I am an information marketer. I’m an information content creator. And somehow deep within me, I justify that all these activities are important for the survival of my business. So I subscribed to a lot of things. And numerous times on this podcast I talked about how, you know, I started scrolling unnecessarily. And the next thing I knew is that I spent about two hours scrolling. I go to Instagram, I scroll and I’m like Gone, an hour is going on. I wake up in the morning, I opened my phone, I’m checking some emails, and then I just go into some new sites, and then my whole morning is gone. And then I don’t want to get into WhatsApp stuff. And I don’t want to get into my school WhatsApp groups McCollins WhatsApp groups, which are deadly the dangerous. Okay. So I think all of us have gone through this in a variety of forms. In fact, just yesterday, last evening, I was with a bunch of people who I met. And one person in that group told me that they listen to my radio shows. And the discussion there at some point was about addictions. And I said yes, it is true that you know, alcohol, porn, all those addictions are taking away destroying the community on a big level. But the biggest one that really is destroying the whole of humanity is inflammation addiction. And there are so many other different repercussions as a result of this addiction. But then all of us to some extent, are addicted to inflammation.

Now, the question becomes how can we deal with this? And what are some strategies techniques? Now if you have a serious addiction, and I suggest that you go meet a therapist, or go that route, but then there are mild addictions that the addiction itself is mild, you know that you’re doing, you know you’re doing it wrong, and you know that you can stop it with some degree of willpower, then what I’m about to share here is going to help you the first and the foremost thing that you got evaluate yourself. Okay, look into everything that you’re doing. And ask some questions. Ask some questions, not questions with questions, not a single question. How many times have you been opening emails, I ask the question how many times have I been opening my email app? How many times have I been opening the Twitter app, how many times opened the Facebook app? It’s not about the duration that starts with time.

So one way to answer the question is to start a log on, kind of put yourself in a pause mode, and say I’m not going to open today’s a Monday, I’m gonna open up the Facebook app to do the Tuesday, I’m not going to open up my open my credit, or Wednesday, no Instagram, or it’s Monday, I’m going to get on Facebook. I closed my Facebook app for a year. I did not post on my Facebook at all for a year, even though my podcasts and all they get published on different pages and Facebook, they’re all completely automated. I did not go to Facebook and post anything at all for a year. And I’ll tell you nothing happened. Nobody missed me. Okay, I highly suggest you schedule it. We can’t avoid inflammation. We can’t avoid social media sites. And I understand that. And I don’t want you to become very hard on yourself by listening to today’s podcast episode. But then I want you to start policing yourself. And that’s where I’m going with all this. Start policing yourself. Start scheduling time. Morning, one hour, it’s okay. Or in the afternoon. One hour is an okay evening. One hour is okay, whatever. That’s okay. There’s no hard and fast rule and what works for me may not work for you. I understand that. But to start scheduling time, I have seen people who spend a lot of time on social media or people who do not know what to do with their time their day, they don’t have a schedule. Some people do in between, that’s okay like you’re on a break for 510 minutes, you scroll, you check some, a few things here and there, that’s, that’s okay. But then giving up your entire day, you only do that because you don’t know what to do with your day. And for that, I have said this numerous times on this podcast, have a schedule, and start your day with a to-do list. And make sure that as you are working on those items in the to-do list, you’re not doing anything else, you finish one task, go to the second, finish the second go to the third. And you keep at them as much as you can. I’ve seen people do this. And that there are some things that are some activities that are called noninternet activities. No more that way. But they were at the beginning back in the day when the internet started, which is, you know, if I go to a movie and spend two hours in the movie, or three hours in the movie, then I’m not scrolling. Yeah, but I’ve seen people scrolling at the movie theaters now also. Okay, so you could try these things.

But then there’s nothing now, which is a noninternet activity because the internet is just going to the background, like every device is connected to everything, you know, just going, it’s a part of life so deeply now that I don’t know what activity is intimate. Well, even if I’m climbing now hiking mountains all everywhere, I have internet. So there’s not a place where you can go and do an activity where you do not have access to the internet. If you’re addicted, you will be everywhere anyway. So there’s no point in this. There is one thing that you could do also, which is you can cut back on the sources. So if there are too many feeds coming in, then you can cut it off. You can say okay, fine. I’ll just probably just read and listen to like two or three podcasts. I’m not saying don’t, don’t subscribe to my podcast. But you get the idea. How many podcasts? Can you listen? Right? Listen, the truth is this and how many can you listen, I’m not saying I’m the best in the game. But figure it out, whatever, whoever resonates with you, and listen to them. Right? I think that’s the right way to put this. Limit the moody apps if possible. And if at all you have to go then just go maybe once a day or twice a day, cut the sources, cut the frequency, reduce the time, use the time differently, kind of schedule the remainder of the time with other activities. And these are some strategies. And if this is beyond, let’s say you are addicted to a point where you don’t do anything other than just social media, then I highly suggest that go meet a therapist. That’s the biggest part of all this. I don’t think I’ve seen people come to me with these issues. But then it’s very rare that people do talk about the smoking addictions and drinking addictions and porn addictions, all that. But then this is something that people don’t talk about. But people do see these things in children. But they don’t see these things in themselves. So I have made major changes in the way I consume information. And I prefer consuming information from books on printed material. I do not print I try avoiding consuming information from feeds as much.

So that’s all for now. I hope today’s podcast episode is helpful. If it is, you know all the things that you have to do rate it right there review it, and share it with a friend or family. And you have a question for him. Let me know. And that’s all for now. I’ll talk to you soon. As early as tomorrow. Stay tuned.
