The Next Google Will Have Its Humble Beginings In Meetup.com

About an year ago, during a serious conversation on memberhsip site models I heard about Meetup.com and its high membership stick rates

While I appreciated the idea then, I completely forgot about it until recently when a friend of mine insisted that I visit local meetup groups to spread the message about my upcoming “Internet Income Summit“, he further explained how even Tony Robbin’s upcoming UPW event in San Jose is promoted in Meetups.

That woke me up…

So last evening I attended my first ever meetup in Campbell, CA. There were about 50 people in attendance and the organizer Sunil Bhaskaran was amazing. A seasoned sales professional himself, Sunil shared some valuable lessons in sales & marketing with everyone. Kept the entire group focused and allowed ample time for the attendees to network. If you live in the Bay Area CA, make sure you attend Sunil’s meetup. The meetup is called The Bay Area Business Leads & Networking Group Meetup. .

Apparently Sunil had known me for sometime and had visited this blog in the past.

Coming out of this meetup, I made a couple of observations about meetups in general, This is kind of my first impression. It could change as I attend more meet ups and get to know more people.

There are some amazing, out of the box thinkers who are just looking for a good break. Their ideas are big, their intentions are noble and their hearts are in the right place. yes the economy is bad, and things are not good, but there is no grief in their attitudes or actions. They are upbeat, optimistic and are eagerly waiting for the “tomorrow” while making the best use of “today”
