Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
Welcome back to Tuesday morning already unbelievable. I’m yet to come out of my Monday funk. And here we are on a Tuesday. Happy Tuesday morning to you. So let’s get into this. today’s podcast episode is something that had been on my mind for a long time. And I did not get a chance to develop this. And as I’m recording this, I’m still not very clear about it. But I’m not really I didn’t get my content in place. I didn’t get my ideas in place. So maybe this may sound shallow. But even though it may sound shallow, I think it has a, it has potential. So I want you to listen to this. If it makes sense. Take it if not ignore it. We’ll move to tomorrow’s podcast tomorrow.
Okay, so here is the background. I have been getting questions about goals, goal setting, achievement, results, outcomes, and all that there are a variety of questions, I keep getting those questions. And the general pack them is I’m getting results. But I’m not able to do them again, I am not able to produce the results. Again. This is the truth with most people, people set goals, and they achieved those goals. But if a similar goal comes again, or the same goal has to be accomplished again, they do not know what they have to do now they’re forgotten, then never really documented that journey. So they can’t repeat. They cannot repeat. And you see this in sports. And the games were sportspersons they performed very well that was amazing. But then some way along the path along the way, somewhere, they lost their form, or they lose that form. And the struggle to get back into the game. I talked about this a few days ago on the podcast here. So let’s take this as an example. Let’s look into what’s happening with you right now. Let’s say if you take life in general, and you will break it into multiple parts, you have health, wealth, finances, and you have relationships, you have your work, then you have your recreation, you have your spirituality, and all that. So there are different ways you can dice and slice different categories of life. And all these categories make sense. Some people said there are eight some people said that is 16. Some say 32 depends on who you listen to who you talk with, and who whoever is putting this forward. So in my mind, there are four major categories, we are spending a lot of time with ourselves, or with other people, or with our work, or with investments and money and all that. So making money growing money, spending time with ourselves, and spending time with our relationships. Now spirituality, friendships, all those things can be grouped into relationships, in my mind, that’s how I see it.
So your work is going great, let’s take that as an example your work is great. And you are really putting in all the hours, you’re working very hard, you’re getting the recognition, you’re getting the money, and all that is fine. But then you don’t have enough time for managing your money. And you will not have as much time to focus on your relationships and your healthy sticking at all. But you’re very focused at work, not because that’s the only thing you want to do. But it’s just that you got so used to it. And you really do not know how to break away from it. Because as you’re doing more and more work, that’s the place where you are getting more and more appreciation. And you feel more connected to it. So this is okay. As long as other areas are okay. So, health is not bad. But it’s okay. Could have been better, but it’s okay. You continue to operate. You’re doing okay. Your money could have grown better, and your investments would have performed better but they’re okay. Your relationships. They could be addressed. It could be you could spend more time with them and you can try more depth into them but then it’s okay. As long as other areas are okay, you really don’t have that much. focus there. You’re focused at work and work is giving you all the necessary attention that you need. So you stay plugged in.
It’s all good. Wait, as long as the work is going great. Now once you have turbulence, and people do have turbulence, and nothing is permanent that you know, and no job, no title, no role, nothing is permanent. So if there is a setback, then people have trouble. And this is what I’ve seen, they do not know where to go. Because they can’t take the time, they did not give time to other areas of life. So they really do not know how to compensate. So for example, somebody is laid off or they lose their job, they don’t know what to do, they are now caught in a situation where the amount of appreciation, the amount of acknowledgment, the amount of belongingness, all that was coming from work suddenly goes away. And they feel like they are fish out of water. It’s interesting. It’s funny. So let’s, I don’t want to get into the overall aspect of how to fix this. But what I want to focus on is if, at all, you lose your form, or you lose your rhythm. How can you get it back? Sometimes people lose the rhythm, everything is going great. And suddenly, something happens. And the focus goes away from it. And they want to come back to it. And they cannot come back. I’ve seen that happen. As I was referring to earlier I was saying, specifically, in sports, we see this, a player playing an amazing game loses her or his focus, and they cannot come back to the game. This struggle, sometimes people retire this go away. Sometimes people can jump so much by it, that they know even though other areas of their life are going great. Other areas are amazing. But just because they lose the form, and on the one thing that they’re really focused on, they somehow feel as if the whole world has fallen apart for them.
So how do you prevent it? How do you stop this from happening? The key is to get into them, whether you have career goals, life goals, or relationship goals, find whatever goals you have, right now, the key is to get into a rhythm. If you don’t get into a rhythm, then it’s hard. And the very core of finding and getting into a rhythm has two aspects to it, I want to give you those two aspects. First and foremost is behind everything that is the math behind everything that is an equation. Your job is to identify that equation and master that equation. So if you’re able to create success, once you should be able to do it a second time, third time, and fourth time, if you know the math. Let me give you some examples. Piano, you play piano, using your ear. Some people do it very, very well. I used to do it to myself, I can play piano, and I can move my fingers. I can listen to any tune move my fingers, can replicate the tune. Can I do it? Exactly. Maybe not. But I’m okay with the tune. Yeah. But I was able to do this 40 years ago. Now, 35 years ago, I was able to do it. But 35 years later, I can still do it. But here’s the problem, I could have done better. I can listen, I can play. The problem reason, why I could not excel, is that I never took the time to understand math. So which key goes into which key? Which scale? How many scales are there? How does the major scale work? How does a minor scale work? What are the differences? What’s a flat key? What’s a sharp key? I never spent time learning those. And because I did not spend time learning those. The math is weak. So sometimes I can get it tuned. I can listen I can play it very quickly. Sometimes I cannot. And I cannot because I don’t the math simple.
Okay, let’s talk about weight loss, people do not get results because they don’t know the math. Very simple. They don’t know how many calories they’re putting in there, how many calories they’re burning, they do not understand the equilibrium they don’t understand how to balance it out. And they don’t know how to catch up if they fall behind. Very simple. There’s math, let’s talk about cooking. You know, cooking. Some people just do it just like that. Just like that by the taste by the field by the mood of the day. They just cook at that moment. Whatever is in their mind they cook however, they want to cook. Say you cannot create a product like McDonald’s or Burger King, or for that matter Taco Bell. If you do not precisely measure everything. You can’t replicate it unless you don’t system and you can’t system unless you measure. So the key is to find the equation, anything that you’re doing, find the equation. Now, before you find the equation, there’s also one more thing, you got to establish this as a problem.
People achieve a goal, set a goal, achieve a goal, celebrate too quickly, and then move on. But at the end of that success, you got to look back and ask a question to yourself, can I do this again? Did I document all this? Is there a process for this? Is there learning that I can take that I can apply next time around? Most people don’t depend on their talent, their skill, or their capabilities, which by the way, will all fade away, skills fade away, we know that capabilities also diminish, we know that. So you got to establish the success of the problem. Now, most people do not establish successes problem because the minute you call something a problem, now, you, you really have to, you’re taking away all the glitters from the glory. And we don’t want to as humans. So the message on this podcast is simple. You got to get into a rhythm. And if you’re struggling to get a rhythm, get the math first. And get the math because you did it. So somebody has some success already.
So get the math and takes time, by the way, takes time. But get the math once you know the equation, then again, just because you know the equation doesn’t mean it’s going to work. And for that, you need to know of course your moods, and your emotional state, all these things do play in but then when mastering the question means that at least you got one aspect of this very clear, which is the foundation. Okay? So it’s better not to lose fall. It’s better to never get into a situation where losing fall in anything that you’re doing doesn’t matter. Doesn’t matter. I wish a coach would have told me this when I was growing up. Somebody as loud as this should have told me this. Never get out of fall. Never stop doing what you’re doing.
Never overthink, never ignore. Take it for granted. become complacent. I wish somebody would have told me this. And I’m telling you this. We’ll watch if you’re listening to this or watching this. I’m telling you this. I wish I had more time to develop this idea. Maybe we’ll come back a month from now and redo this podcast episode. We’ll see. Hey, that’s all, for now, you enjoy your Tuesday and I will catch up with you as early as tomorrow. Stay tuned.
