Powerful writing is closely related to successful marketing. In business, you are seeking to emotionally stimulate your customers to take action. Writing is one of the most concentrated forms of communication and the most effective way to induce others to take action.
You may be required to write sales pitches, sales scripts, advertising copy or personal letters to your customers. If you are not sure how to get started writing emotionally powerful words, here are a few tips.
1. Bring On the Pain
Realize that much of your audience is already in pain, though the level of pain is relatively small. Focus on the frustration and the hindrances that certain activities (or even other companies) bring.
Build the suspense up to a breaking point so that they are begging you for relief to this pain. Now you present to them the one true solution. Now they are seeking your comfort like a nice long hug on a lonely, wintry day.
2. Tell a Story
Human beings love a good story, whether we are watching a movie, reading a novel or reading the latest sales letter in the mail. Try and put stories into your sales writing. Build suspense and introduce resolution.
Introduce characters, even if you??™re telling a true story about an associate of yours. Manipulate the emotions of your audience through story telling??”their fears, their dreams and their hope.
3. Use Emotional Words, Not Logical Words
This involves not mastering the art of literary prose, but of emotional communication. Think of words that happy people use in everyday conversation. Think of words that angry people use or that sad people use.
When you have something important to say to a person, you will make sure that you are understood.
This is the type of direct, intense language you are aiming for in sales writing. Think back to all of your favorite movies or any dramatic real life conversations you??™ve had with people, and think about the words that were used.
This type of emotional writing quickly connects with people and gets results.

Hi Srini,
Your article is more practical.
Hi Srini,
Sometimes the best way I fight boring brain dead part of me that doesn’t want to write….I just start talking into a voice recorder–on any subject–then I transcribe it.
It brings a emotions and the pain(if any) to the story.
