Here is the complete transcript of the podcast
Good morning, everyone, welcome or welcome back to Success with Srini. Today is the first of November 2022. This is the start of a new month. It’s a remarkable day for me personally, because I woke up this morning, thinking how far we have come with this podcast, you mean, all of us have come with this podcast. So at the beginning of this year, I set a goal for myself, I said, I’m going to do this podcast on a daily basis. And by the time I reached the end of the year, if at all I’d reach then December 31, is going to be the last day of this podcast. That was in my mind, I’m like, it’s so hard to get there. Once I get there, I’m going to That’s it. I’m done that that was going on in my mind, as I started the first of January, this year, and it kept on going. At every moment, at every step of the way. There was a subliminal thought that I should stop this podcast. I was looking at the numbers I was seeing who is listening, how many downloads, I mean, all that your questions that are not coming in, that was asking people to ask questions, I was not getting the right pulse of where this was going for a long time. And along the way, you have kept this podcast alive. Along the way, you challenged me to think differently, you challenged me to get, you know, pull myself out of the shell or, you know, drop my funk state and get into a performance state. So the credit goes to you. Thank you for your trust, a lot of things have to happen. I’m not there yet with this. The way it’s going right now, I don’t think I’m going to stop it on December 31.
For sure, I will not stop it on the first of January either without wishing you. But there are so many good things happening with the podcast, there is a tremendous amount of momentum. And I’m looking forward to carrying forward that momentum beyond my internal deadline date of December 31. So thank you for your questions. Thank you for your feedback. And now, here’s my message for you today. My message to you is that he could give given that today is the first of November, this is the start, and I want you to set a 60-day goal for yourself and work towards achieving that goal. Given whatever it takes, you need to work some sleepless nights to do it. You have to expense yourself at a level that you did not expense in the past do it. You need to cut off a few other things from your life to achieve this goal, do it but do it. I said the same thing last month, I said I’m going to set a goal for myself 90-day goal and I want to go after it. I did, but I do not have a lot of traction on it yet because there are so many unknowns that I’m dealing with right now. But I’m working on a daily basis towards that goal. So set a 60-day goal for yourself. And as you come to the end of this month, as the first of December comes in, set a 30-day goal for yourself. And by the time the first of January comes, you now have a date-related goal-setting mindset. So every time the first of something comes or the 15th of something comes you set a goal and you achieve the goal. I know it’s hard to think like that. This is the time when people tell some of my coaching clients, they’re telling me, this is the end of the year, we’re getting into this whole decision, I need to slow down and I’m gonna take it easy and all I’ll tell you if you raise yourself to 10,000 20,000 feet into the air and you look down the affairs of the world, the earth, they are the same doesn’t matter what the season is. And you go beyond a certain height into the sky. There are no seasons anyway.
So if a goal is important for you, and you want to get there, wherever you want to get to people have weight loss goals, people and all these things coming up, you know these things, you know, come January 1, you will be there. It’s going to happen. So why not preempt it and make it happen a little earlier a couple of weeks ago, I was doing a radio show. And this was on October 14. And for the first time, I was on a Friday show. And as I was wrapping up my show, I had a caller calling Whose call I could not take on air. And because exactly it was seven pm Pacific, my show ended. And this call came in it wasn’t the board. So after the show ended, I took the call. And I was a couple from Fremont was on the other side and he was praising you know, this podcast. He says he listens to this podcast and all the good things. And he said Srini I listen to it, but you say so many things on the podcast that I don’t get all that. Is it possible for you to summarize everything that you have said in a podcast towards the end so that I don’t need to go back and rewind and listen to it again and again and again? So we were talking. And first of all, I told the couple, I was thankful to Kapil for calling into my show, listening to my show, and listening to this podcast and all that. He himself said something he said, I understand, you start something without any notes or any, you know, with a set agenda. And then along the way things come. And it’s very difficult for you to go back and summarize what you said, which is screw by the way. And then as we wrapped up the call, I asked people to call into the podcast line and ask that question, so that I can use his voice, his message, and his question as a voice drop on this podcast. And I’m going to come and add a few more comments to his question. So he did it immediately. So let’s go to his question. And when I come back, I’m going to answer his question.
He made the couple from Fremont. I’m an avid listener of your podcast. They are usually very thought-provoking and insightful. I had a suggestion to improvise them, which could benefit the listener, get the end of the podcast if you could introduce a key takeaway session. To summarize the key bullet point of the podcast, I believe it will. If not all, it will help a few listeners to recap and get the takeaway items from the podcast. It’s been wonderful listening to you. Thanks for doing a great job. And thank you so much. Gopal, thank you for the question. I sincerely appreciate this. I’ve gotten a lot of feedback on this podcast. And people told me sometimes in person, sometimes via email, I don’t like your intro, or I don’t like your outros. I don’t, why don’t you have guests on the podcast? On September 7, you said this. But then prior to that, on March 21st, you said this, and what you said on March 21, is not true anymore. On September 7, you contradicted yourself. So I don’t know which one to follow. I’ve gotten that feedback. I have gotten feedback from people saying that I listened to you only when my kid is in the car. But I don’t listen to you outside. So ever since the school was off, I did not listen because of also not driving my kid around. I’ve gotten all kinds of feedback. It’s weird how and all good, nothing. All feedback is good feedback. I’ve also gotten feedback saying people don’t like your voice. That’s why don’t listen, somebody told me that I like her ideas, but I don’t like your voice. And some people told me that they did like my voice, but they don’t like my ideas. I’ve gotten all kinds of feedback. This is interesting feedback, that you gave, and I’m thankful to you, because my son, my wife, all of them said this to me, you start, you say, but then if somebody doesn’t follow from the beginning to the end, then they’re lost. And, as you said, during that phone call, and now that I also said that at the beginning of this podcast, which is that It’s difficult for me to go back and, and summarize the points very hard because I some of the podcasts I can some I cannot. And that’s the challenge.
For example, on yesterday’s podcast, I talked about how to create a mighty life. And I said, add some movement to your life at some moment to money to live a meaningful life. You know, add some meditation to your life and add some mantra to your life. Because that was clear.
So I could summarize that at the end. But some of the podcasts they are I don’t know how to summarize some. So not that this. This suggestion has not come in before. But this has not come in from a listener. So thanks For doing this for me, but I will make a concentrated effort to summarize everything that I say on a podcast, you’ll start seeing that modification pretty soon on this podcast going forward. As I said, December 31, is the last day. So I don’t need to summarize this on December 31. But here is the secret to speaking. And I’ll tell you when you are giving instructions to people when you are telling people when you are expecting others to do something, this is the formula, the formula is that first, you have to tell people what you are going to tell, then tell. And then you tell them what you told. So first, tell them what you will tell, then tell. And then tell them what you told. This is the formula. This is the mindset, this is how you approach. So your suggestion of adding a small little summary towards the end comes down to me saying what I told in the podcast, which makes sense, actually, your suggestion falls in the approach, and the majority of the top speakers, and trainers, usually use this formula to communicate with people.
So that’s all I had for today’s podcast. And before I wrap this up, I have to summarize today’s podcast, I’ll start here, and make an attempt here. There are a couple of takeaways, the first and the foremost, and the biggest takeaway is that there are 60 days left in this year, that’s it, this year is gone, and will be gone. These days are not going to come back. So if you had a goal or a set of goals at the beginning of this year, and you haven’t yet gotten to them, please schedule some time and go after them. And try to accomplish them as soon as possible. So that the first of January 2023 is going to be an incredible start for you. Don’t wait till the first of January to start something. That’s the biggest takeaway. There’s also one other big takeaway from today’s podcast, which is when somebody takes time, and talks to you. You know what they have in your best interest. They really care for you. They really have given a part of their thought to you. It’s interesting why people, you know, every word somebody else says to you, in a positive way, in a good way with good intent in their heart is worth gold. It’s amazing how powerful it’s I don’t have any words to describe this. Somebody is telling you that you need to include something, change something that means and they’re coming from a good place. Listen to them. Listen to them. And if possible, accommodate their ask, because when you improve, you end up improving a lot of people. It’s very simple. That’s the biggest takeaway for me.
Okay, that’s all for now. Be safe wherever you are. And before you know it, I’ll be with you as early as tomorrow. Keep Listening.
