The Secret To Happiness

The Secret To Happiness

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

Today’s podcast episode is for you if you are trying to break a bad habit. And today’s podcast episode is also for you if you are in pursuit of happiness. I want to continue my discussion from yesterday about books about learning. We have been talking about books for a while now. And I want to extend that thought. And I’m going to talk about a specific book. And this book is written by J. Martin Kohe. And the title of this book is Your Greatest Power. Since this book came out somewhere in the 1960s, I believe this book, J. Martin Kohe talks about a metaphor, I’m not sure if this is real or not, but it’s a metaphor, at least to my understanding, he talks about a touchstone is a pebble. When this pebble touches any metal, it turns that metal into gold. And this Pebble is found on the shores of the Black Sea. And on the shores of the Black Sea, there are 1000s of pebbles, and all these pebbles are identical. And this Pebble also has the same size, same color, and all that with 1000s of other pebbles. And the only way this specific pebble stands out is that this is warm, while other pebbles are all cold.

So an old man gets this information and discovers the secret and decides to go and find this pebble, he sells off everything, all his belongings. And he goes on to the shore and camps there. And he starts testing the pebbles. Now, he obviously knew that if he touches a pebble, and if it’s not the right one, then if he throws it onto the shore again, then the chances are he’ll have to, you know, again, he has to test it. Instead, what he decided to do was throw the pebble into the sea. And with that in mind, he starts testing the pebbles. And he keeps on throwing pebbles that are cold into the water. One week, one month, one year, three years, just go by all he does, it touches the pebbles and throws them into the water as he keeps on doing this. And he kept on doing that. He came across a pebble that was warm. But he ended up throwing it into the water. He got into the habit of throwing the pebbles away, that finally the one that he was looking for. He found it, but he ended up throwing it away. You know, happiness is one such thing. We’ve worked so hard days and nights. And literally, we just give everything we have looking for that perpetual happiness. And there isn’t, we become desperate, we become habitual, in search of that happiness, that we forget the happiness-producing events and experiences that pass by us all the time. Because we have gotten into looking for that big happiness that otherwise doesn’t exist. And I’ve gone on to say this multiple times on this podcast, there isn’t there is nothing called happiness. There is nothing called a happy life. There isn’t. We have happy moments along the way. And our job is to create those happy moments. So if you take each pebble an as a life moment, you’ve got to enjoy each pebble and experience each pebble and focus on all the good things that each Pebble is doing to us. Rather than waiting for that one big pebble that is going to completely change your entire life and I see that people doing it and there isn’t as I said there isn’t a happy life. And I hear a lot of people tell me that if I just could have done that thing the right way. But life would have been brilliant and awesome. There isn’t.

You are who you are. Because that last thing did not go well. And probably you are who you are today because the Other thing you did, which you never liked doing, but you ended up doing it anyway, is because of why you are here. And who knows from here on, you will go somewhere else, which is going to be much more bigger and meaningful, which you could not have gone to if you would have not arrived here, and you arrived here because you did something else. Anyways, you get the idea. You get to the point I’m always clapping and waving my hands. Yes. Hopefully, this study gives you some perspective on whatever you’re dealing with right now in your life. And you’ll start seeing happiness differently and you will start breaking some old habits that otherwise need to be you need to break away from them so that you can create that success that you are seeking.

That’s all for now. You enjoy wherever you are. Stay happy, stay positive, and I’ll catch up with you as early as tomorrow.
