This One Habit That Will Set You Apart

This One Habit That Will Set You Apart

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

Welcome back to success with Srini. Happy Sunday morning to you. Today on the podcast, I want to share with you one incredible thing, one amazing thing that if you do consistently, for maybe a month or two, even for a week, it will set you apart in your game. Whatever game you’re playing right now, maybe a job, maybe a business, maybe some problems, some challenges you’re dealing with in your life right now and you are looking to kind of escape from the pain from the suffering, it will not only do that for you but will set you apart, maybe you’re looking for next-level success, it’s going to do that for you. And the more I talk about this, the more I share this with people on my radio shows at my seminars, even on this podcast, people don’t do it. They don’t do it. They love listening to this, but they don’t do it. And I promise you, listen, I will bet my life on this. If you do this, do it for a month. And if life doesn’t change, you don’t excel in whatever area that you are in right now. You come back, you blame me I take the blame.

Now, this one thing is you reading a book. And you do that daily, maybe 30 minutes in the morning, in the evening, doesn’t matter. 30 minutes a day, just to read once a day for 30 minutes for the next 30 days, your life will change I promise you. Now what kind of books, usually it doesn’t matter. I’m talking about the habit in itself, eventually, finding the right book, but then read 30 minutes of something that will improve you. Self-improvement books, you read for 30 days, 30 minutes a day, your life will change. I’ve been on this podcast numerous times talking about this topic. I get questions, what kind of books should I read? You read what you want to read. But reading in itself is what I’m talking about. The content of the book is a whole different discussion altogether. And again, my answer is always to read self-improvement books. But then read business books, read career books, read relationship books, books that will enrich you and empower you. People tell me they don’t have time to readjust 20 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, you start the day reading the book early in the morning, wake up 30 minutes early, read some few pages, then continue to read a few more pages in the days along the way, and then maybe close out the day with maybe a few more pages.

Now, sometimes people do tell me that they have this fear that they cannot complete the book. And I’m also a victim of that. And I have many books on we used to have many books, which I bought, I never opened the books, I bought the book got excited, beautiful cover, great author, great title, got the book, never opened the book. And I had those books forever, eventually, at some point in my life. And after many, many years of accumulating all these books, I decided it was time for me to give them away. takes real estate doesn’t do any good. And the more I look at these books, the more I feel depressed because I should have used my time properly and I did not get those books away. So now, lately, my mindset is I don’t need to finish a book. I do try to finish a book. But that’s not a criterion for me anymore. And with that mindset, I read a lot. My goal is not to finish the book. And I don’t want to get into that mindset of okay if I have to start if I started this book, I have to finish this book before I can read another book. And I cannot I neither finish this book nor can read the next book. So to these days, I have segmented my time early in the morning self-improvement afternoon, a chapter or two from a business book, evening, a chapter or two from some aspects of again some self-improvement. So the different segments.

So to be more precise, early morning, mostly inspirational books, afternoon, entrepreneurial books, will late afternoon, a business entity structuring operations that kind of a book late in the evening productivity books, something like that. Those are the categories, high-level categories. And I read one chapter from each book. The goal is obviously to read all these books to completion. But even if I do not complete I’m still deriving value from these books. At one point in time, I was reading one book a week and I’ve lost my momentum at that pace at some point I also considered taking I did take a class on spirituals But then I never really used it at a level that I should have applied myself at that level. So I think overall, my reading ability has gone up. But then I don’t think that’s the criteria, I think the processing part is more important than the reading part. So the processing part also, I end the retention, also. So, retention is what I’m right now focused on not worried about how many lines, how many pages, and all that. So I don’t want to run through a book, only to see that I’ve missed a lot of good nuggets there.

Some people asked me, should I check out the book reviews? And get some recommendations before? My answer is this, read every book that comes your way, eventually, we’ll find a book that you want to read a Second time or third time, when you do find a book that you feel like reading a second or third time, then that becomes your point of reference. That book defines your character, that book defines your base, that book defines your trajectory. That’s how I look at this. There are some questions that I’ve gotten also over time, which is, should I get a Kindle book? Should I listen to the book while I’m reading? Yes, you can do all of that. But make sure that when you are reading, you are reading, it’s okay to listen to that book, while you’re reading, which I recommended in one of the earlier podcast episodes, but then it’s important that you while you’re reading, you are reading here is here’s the point. The reason why I say this is going to set you apart is that most people don’t do this. And because most people are not doing that, which is extremely important. And now that you’re committing to do this yourself, that in itself is a separation. That in itself will put you has already put you in this moment, if you’re deciding to do that. Starting this moment, you are now in an exclusive club of its own. So that’s profound. It’s a starting itself is good.

Now, how is it that you read a good book and don’t learn? How is it possible that you read a book and your brain doesn’t expand? And that you can’t see new possibilities, reading is the fastest way to open your mind to new possibilities, there is nothing else you can listen to. But reading does something different to the mind. There is no other way that I can open myself up to new possibilities. There is so much to learn. Honestly, there is so much to learn. And this life is not sufficient. There is so much to this world to this universe, that one life to life, three lives 10 Lives are insufficient. So my suggestion is this if you already know a book that you think will fascinate you. And you can carve out some time to read that book. You can do justice to that book. Get it? Make it your start. Today’s the start. April 10 2020 to Sunday is the start. Start, I promise you 30 days from today, May 10. Year 2022. Tell me Srini I read the book, a book that I got I read for 30 days. And I’m glad I did. That’s the response I will get from you. I know that.

That’s all for now. I hope today’s wanted to keep it short, and precise. Hopefully, I did. Okay. If you like the podcast episode, do me a favor, read it, write a review on it, and share it.
