“To attain knowledge, add things every day to attain wisdom, remove things every day.” That’s not me who said it? I’m just saying it here on this podcast. That was from Laozi.
Welcome back. Happy Saturday morning to you on the podcast. Today, I’m expanding the answer that I gave yesterday to a question that I got from a listener of my radio show asking me between choosing their existing job, or starting a new business, I kind of went into my experiences. And I dug myself when I shared what I think I would do, and what I experienced all along as an employee, and also as a business owner, and all that. So I’ve gone through the conflict, I kind of shared some thoughts. If you have not yet heard that podcast, please go back. That was yesterday. Please listen to that. And today, today’s podcast is going to make sense. Okay, that being said, yesterday, I highlighted three things you got to learn, you got to do more. And you got to do less, three things. Learn. Let’s talk about that for a second. I want to focus on the word learn. And I’m gonna expand that. I have been notoriously saying on this podcast, that there is nothing new to learn. Everything is unlearning.
So it’s about your beliefs and your values. Most of your beliefs, you have been conditioned to believe certain things in a certain way, you will have been experiencing that for a long time because of the environment in which you are in and the people with whom you interact. So you started to take that as the truth. And as you start to grow, and just started to experience the world. And as you’re growing, you are starting to see that those beliefs are not true anymore. So majority of learning is unlearning. That doesn’t mean that you are not supposed to learn, you are supposed to learn. So you are supposed to bring in information. And that information will be processed differently now within you. Because of the way you are expanding yourself. So your mind is expanding. So if you’re listening to this podcast, or any other podcast, or any other source from where you are seeking information, that means you are expanding. And so the information that you that is coming your way, hopefully, is turning into knowledge.
Now, the only way to turn information into knowledge. It should only be one thing that’s a little oxymoron, right there. The only way to turn information into knowledge is by doing one thing, the only thing, okay, anyway, so I’m going to get better at this. But you get the idea. There’s only one way to do this, which is you got to practice, practice, whatever you are learning, if you don’t practice, the chances are you are passive. The chances are you just listen and you forget. So anything, everything that I’m saying, or anybody else is saying, If you do not practice, then you don’t modify your identity, you don’t modify your, your thinking, you listen, and you and you have the high at the moment, and it’s gonna go away. Yes, some of that information may translate into knowledge. Me, but that’s not what we are seeking here. We are seeking that information that you are bringing into yourself, not only raises your knowledge but also makes you active. Also creating momentum also creates velocity for you or pace for you. Something like that. So if you’re not experiencing it at a level, holistically at every part of your existence, then yeah, there is some value. Somebody asked me, you know, power and support castes, you know, which one should we listen to? Does somebody speak in a certain way you speak in a certain way? Yeah. Yeah. You know, inherently nothing has value. You heard me say this, inherently. Nothing has value. It’s all that you attach. It’s all about how you happen to something. Nothing happens. So humans are not around the Earth is still there. Very simple. We came in when we said oh, this is a river. Oh, that’s a mountain. Oh, this is a tree we started attaching value to. Nature was happening anyway, doesn’t matter.
As simple as that. Or maybe it’s not that simple. You get the idea. Learning. Learning also means that you are developing your ability T to do something more predictably. Right? But learning is to develop learning means that you are bringing information but practice means that you are making it predictable. So learning is not predictable. Let me correct myself learning is not predictable. You learn something today, you don’t forget tomorrow. So if you wake me up in the middle of the night, and you say, Srini, how do you record the podcast? I better tell you how to record a podcast. Because I do it every day. It’s daily, it’s practice. You tell me how to put an intro how to put an outro I know it. Do you tell me how the podcast is rendered? How it’s uploaded? Oh, yeah, I know it. Well, can I learn Intel? You? Yes. Can I read about it Intel? You? Yes. But I practice it every day. And I proof the sun. I’m doing this every day for the last eight months, soon to be nine months. So I should be knowing this. This. This is a part of me. It’s part of my being. It’s me it’s a part of Mike’s experience. Now, what’s the difference between learning and practicing a little bit more learning means you don’t have any first-hand information. You probably have some inclination, some idea. Hence you explore and you study, you bring it, into your existence. But it doesn’t stay with you. It’s gonna go away. I promise you, if I stop doing this podcast, for about maybe two or three days, it’s gonna go away. I recently started experiencing something or experimenting with something which is practicing not drinking coffee. Just started three like a week ago. It’s a practice for me. It’s not a quitting coffee or none. Or justifying to the world that listens, I quit coffee, I took out caffeine from my system. I have not taken out caffeine from my system, I have quit drinking coffee. Just a baby step. It’s a practice for me. I do that for a month for two months or three months. I do not know. That’s it. That’s it. I’m not saying it’s a virtue. I’m not saying you need to acknowledge something that I’m doing none, zero. But it’s just positioning yourself for success. That’s how I see it.
So I’m quitting something positioning myself for success. I’m starting something positioning myself for success. See that? I’m hoping they’re catching that mindset. So it opens up, and you bring in a new skill or new learning. And your job is to become knowledgeable, great. But then you have to turn that knowledge into wisdom. Knowledge is not enough. You got to turn that into wisdom. And it only becomes wisdom. If you practice daily and practice the only way to turn that into wisdom. So if do I have wisdom on how to produce this podcast? The answer is yes. I am absolutely number one on how to do it my way. Am I better than somebody else now, if somebody else is who is doing it for the last three months, and they do it differently, they use a different podcasting platform? They record differently, they produce differently, they render differently, that is their way. I’m not saying, my way is better than their way. But my way is predictable. I have become very predictable. And I can do it in the middle of the night. Wake me up. There is something about practicing something daily. Eventually, it starts to look like a gift. You are a realtor, you are a chiropractor. You are a mortgage broker, you are an insurance agent. You are something and you do that every day. Every day, relentless, do it, practice it. Then for outsiders, you look like you have the gift. Truth. You don’t have a gift. Truth You created the gift, truth. You paid the price with sweat, blood tears, over and over and over again every day, multiple times for long durations at a time and others refused to do it. That’s the difference. That’s the difference. Somebody said she knew you did not you don’t have a startup you didn’t build million Malta you’re not a Facebook or Google. You don’t need to. You don’t need to.
That’s like the exception. You need to start a business to become like Facebook or Google Amazon apple. Now. You start a business because you want the flexibility the autonomy, the freedom, the anonymity at the money through exploration of growth, that’s why you do what you do. Can be done in a job that can be business But everything involves learning. Everything involves that you practice daily. I promise you, you don’t practice daily. Whatever you have in you, it’s gonna go away. Sorry, but that’s the truth. I don’t know how many people like taught hypnosis, like 1000s of people, very few practices go away, goes away. Okay, this is where I stopped. And that’s the only message I had. Hopefully, this is helpful. Hopefully, the only validation to this is tomorrow is starting today, depending upon when you’re listening to this. Either stop something and practice or you start something and practice and you let me know in a month’s time how your life is gonna change or has changed. In a month’s time, do it daily, do it hourly, depending on what you do it hourly, do it daily. whatever frequency you set, practice. Practice is the key to success. Somebody said Srini it’s just not about practice. It’s the right practice. That creates success. True. You can bend the statement in any which way you want to. But the key is the practice here. Right practice wrong practice. Who knows? that’s up for debate. Practice.
Okay, that’s all wherever you are, be safe. And I’ll talk to you as early as tomorrow. Stay tuned.
