Your Employees Need A Sence Of Visible Contribution, Let Them Blog

When you’re running a business blog you want to make sure everything in it is tailored to your business, properly SEO oriented and a whole bunch of other things that are going to make it appealing to both your readers and the search engines.

Keeping that in mind, it’s easy to develop a slightly overpossessive viewpoint that discourages your employees from contributing their two cents! The question is, should you encourage your employees to contribute to your blog or should you keep it as a one man show?

From a professional blogging standpoint, that’s an easy one. You should absolutely encourage your employees to blog, and as often as possible. Why? If two heads are better than one, imagine what twenty or thirty could do!

Think of it this way. When you spend your entire day reading reports and memos written by the same person, don’t things start to get old and repetitive after a while? The style becomes familiar, you begin to get aggravated with their shortcomings (yes, we all have them) and before too long you’re absolutely desperate for a little variety!

If you’ve never dedicated forty hours a week to reading memos, just imagine having to listen to your office mate drone on all??¦day??¦long. By the end of the week you’re going to be ready to talk to a rock just to get a different viewpoint!

Believe it or not, your blog visitors feel the exact same way about your blog posts. They like hearing what you have to say, but they want a little variety in there too. Your employees can bring that! Each and every person working for you has their own opinions and experiences to share, and by allowing them to share those experiences you’re actually creating a better overall blog experience for your readers.

I mean, your employees have to be able to contribute something, right? After all, you did hire them!

There’s the obvious benefit of giving your employees the opportunity to make an obvious and visible contribution to your company. Many times employees, especially those that serve as researchers and support staff, get swept to the side when it comes to public recognition. They don’t get to present, they don’t get to speak at conferences, they don’t get to meet with the corporate bigwigs. They are, for all intents and purposes, completely invisible to the public eye. By encouraging employee blogging you’re bringing these people to the surface and allowing them to have their say.

Invested Employees=Happy Employees=Productive Employees

If your staff isn’t familiar with SEO and Internet marketing strategy it might be a good idea to sit down and have a pow-wow with them before the employee blogging begins. Quickly go over the concept of SEO and keywords, and provide them with a list of top searches to keep in mind when they’re doing their blogs. Then step back. It’s tempting to micro-manage employee blogs, but when you start complaining about keyword density (unless it’s missing altogether) you’re going to kill the spirit of employee blogging complete. Relax, send out a few helpful memos, then kick back and see what happens.

This is when the magic begins.

Truly something to appreciate. This is also a good way to see how others view similar subject matter from a different point view…priceless information.
