Lost Fitness? Here is How You Restart

Today’s podcast episode is somewhat unusual because we are talking about fitness on the podcast today. This has a lot to do with my own journey. This is something that I struggle with on a daily basis myself. I’ve been lately struggling with it because there are too many things going on. And I’ve not been able to focus on it as much as I should. And I should, because I’m on a public platform like this. And I talk about fitness, I talk about health, I talk about weight loss. And if you talk about something that you do not do, then there is a problem. Okay, you got to the point. There are numerous episodes on this podcast where I talk about fitness, I talk about weight loss, specifically using hypnosis as a medium to lose weight to get fit. Weight loss is one aspect, but getting fit, and staying fit. That’s a whole different area altogether.

Numerous podcast episodes have been done, I’ve interviewed people, and I’ve shared my experiences. But I keep getting this question. Now how do I lose weight? How do I become fit? And every time I get a question, I look at myself in the mirror and say, Okay, well, I was 100 Somebody three pounds six months ago and answered this question. Today, I gained a few pounds. And I’m getting a question from a listener of my radio show or an email subscriber, or the listener of this podcast? Am I qualified to answer this question? And I go through this, I go through this. So I got a question. And naturally, that’s why I’m doing the podcast today. Is this specifically taking this up? I got a question. And, and I look, and I measure every day. And I’ve been seeing that my weight has been going up for the last three months and on an upward trajectory. So three months ago, I was at 173 pounds. And today I’m at 180 pounds.

So what has gone wrong, what changed, I’m still doing activities, I’m very active, and I still do the activities that are necessary to lose weight. But there are two unconscious things well, one conscious and one called unconscious thing that has happened with me, and I’m going to be very clear on that on today’s podcast because maybe this is also happening with you. And if odd may have happened to you, you can relate to it. That’s the goal. The first thing that happened that’s gone wrong with me is that I go to meetings, and I eat, I go to dinner meetings, I go to lunch meetings, I go to different meetings. And every time I’m with people I eat. And I’ll tell you, regardless of which weight loss program you’re in if you don’t control your calorie intake. If you don’t control what you’re eating, you don’t measure what you’re eating. And you don’t time what you’re eating, you are going to lose out in this game. It doesn’t matter who the fitness expert is, it doesn’t matter who you paid. It doesn’t matter what kind of program you’re on and what kind of all the different awards the program has gotten or the trainer has gotten doesn’t matter. If you don’t measure, then you cannot change. So if you don’t measure the intake, people burn them out, they measure them out, they don’t measure the in. Again, just a few days ago, I talked about this. I think three days ago, I talked about this. So that’s the first mistake I made, which is I’m eating food that I’m not able to measure. So you go to a restaurant you eat. Now, at home, I can look at food. And I can tell you how many calories are there in it. If you show me a cup of tea, I can tell you how many calories are there. You tell me what kind of milk you’re using, I can tell you the calories. I can look at a cup of lentils, I can tell you the boiled lentils I can tell you a cup or a half a cup or a quarter cup, I can tell you the calories in it. Why? Because I’ve measured it so many times. It doesn’t matter. I don’t measure it anymore. I’ve become really good at it. So my eyes can identify my mind can process because it’s a habit. But the minute I go out and I start eating in the meetings on call unconscious response. If you leave your hands empty, and you have food in the front, and your brain is engaged in talking to someone, the default behavior of the hand is to go to the food and take the food into the mouth. I’ve seen this and experienced it.

I see this repeating in my behavior and everybody else’s behavior is such a challenge to control the hand to move to the mouth so the first thing first mistakes on my side, which is I can understand. So first of all I should be avoiding going to these meetings. And if at all I do need to keep this meeting small, and I shouldn’t meet at a place where there is a lot of flavor and aroma and all that. And I should make these meetings quick. But the first thing, the second thing that has gone wrong is that I am scheduling my time to go to the gym. And I don’t go very unusual of me and talk about peak performance. And I do these podcasts, I do seminars, workshops on change. How do you go back and restart this right now before I go into the restart pot, the like, I schedule my time, and I don’t go. Okay, so there’s a second one that’s going wrong. And most of the time that is guilt, you schedule time, you want to go to the gym guilt, you don’t go your guilt. This guilt is killing me from the inside. So I will do this tomorrow. And we’ll do this tomorrow.

There’s a third element to this also, which is my morning routine got compromised because I’ve been so busy doing too many things. In busy. So the morning doesn’t start in the morning. My morning starts late morning. So if my morning starts late morning, then guess what happens to the afternoon, it’s late, then evening, late at night becomes evening, or night becomes afternoon sometime that means I’m sleeping late. See, it’s if Val oiled. Machine, that’s what life is. And if it is not, then it’s not going to operate, there is no way you can establish the cadence. So, people who do not establish a cadence when it comes to fitness, work, or any aspect of life, they will lose out. So there is a hustle part, there’s the beginning for everything. But once the beginning part is done once, once the hustle is over, there has to be a system in place. That should be very predictable. That should operate. So this is what I’m doing now. Now. Right? You know, how do we capture this? How do we get it back this is something that you may be thinking if you’re with me up to this point, you can you are with me, you’re listening to everything that I’m saying. And you’re listening to things that I’m not saying, right?

You can listen to the inner side of me on this problem, you start to see that, you know, you may be questioning yourself, and how do you get out of the situation? Well, a few ways you can get out of the situation. The first and the foremost is and this is what I’m doing. Let me talk about what I’m Ben I am now the first thing I’m fixing is my sleep. Sleeping early, waking up early. Okay, so I get back to my morning routine, I have lost my morning routine in the last six weeks. So I’m trying to get it back. So once I get back to my morning routine, I’m now adding four and a half hours to my day. So forth. That is where I used to wake up. And now I’m getting delayed because I’m sleeping pretty late. So that has to be changed, number one. And number two is once that pot is in place. Now I have time, or now I have what do you call enough leeway to go and workout to do workout sessions one in the morning, one in the evening. That’s what I’m structuring now. Which already I mean, by the way, but by the way, I’m doing this podcast today is because I’ve already had these things in place. Okay. And then obviously, minimizing the meetings and not eating anything that I cannot measure. That’s it. So from the outside, I cannot measure I cannot eat. So if at all I have to eat something outside, I need to have the serving size and the calorie count on the food mentioned. If not, I won’t.

That’s how this works. That’s my moral. Now, how can you do this in your situation, let’s say and maybe your situation is very extreme, let’s say or maybe it’s not? How do you fix this on your site? Well, there are some recommended methods and there are these methods have called out also on this podcast before the first and foremost is that you start your fitness journey and your social journey. So you find someone with whom you can go for a hike, or you can go for a swim or you can go for a bike ride or you can think you know, go under the sun. I talked about this multiple times. And then I would only focus on one thing to change Here I’m focusing on multiple things in my situation, but then only change one thing, maybe change the diet. But don’t worry about your fitness. Don’t worry about going to the gym or going to the gym, don’t worry about the diet for now. But in the long run, you cannot just make it with the gym, you have to fix the diet, period, no doubt about it. But the most important part is you need to find a way to enjoy all this. That’s the crux of this.

You got to enjoy fitness, you got to enjoy the diet, you got to enjoy the activity itself. If not, this is going to be a failed exercise. But above all, the only thing on today’s podcast episode, the only takeaway is this, that anything that you want to do, you have to start doing anything that you want to do, you have to start doing. So start. Don’t worry about the numbers. Don’t worry about the metrics. Don’t worry about the outcome. Don’t worry about how it’s all going to work out, just start doing it. And slowly but surely do it for a long amount of time. So commit to a long amount of time, but start doing it without any expectations. The challenge with fitness is that the improvements are minimal. And it’s on a day-to-day basis. But you’ll need a lot number of days to see a significant amount of improvement. So just start.
