The Evolving Landscape Of Social Networks: More Surprises Ahead..

If I were to focus on getting my content on to the social networks, I would get that over to these 20 top sites. Forget about back links for a second, I would focus on getting some visibility for my business on these sites.

As you read the report #17 Xanga has a sudden drop in the traffic, while #14 fubar.com is a complete surprise. I never new a site like this existed until recently, when my research for a “rate the user generated content” lead me to this site. I never expected this site to be so popular till I saw this report.

Also Twitter.com which is ranked #19 will surge upwards in the coming months, I am witnessing a massive increase of users as I use it myself. More and more small business owners and marketers are making this site more popular by the day.

An observation: Google owns Orkut, Microsoft invested in Facebook and AOL recently acquired BEBO. Well as you see there is big money involved in social marketing and advertising. While Google, Microsoft and Facebook are all US based companies the social marketing revolution is happening outside US for example Orkut.com enjoys a major Follwing in India and Brazil, Bebo.com has a major following in Canada, Ireland, New Zealand & Australia

Most recently I saw a compilation of 1800 social networking sites. All of them having tremendous traffic, loyal user following and importantly the ingredients to make it big.

In coming months this report will change significantly as more or more unknown or little known social sites(long tail) will continue to make a claim to top spot.
