Why Improve The Mind?

Why Improve The Mind?

Here is the complete transcript of the podcast

Happy Monday morning to you. Welcome back to Success with Srini. On the podcast today, I want to drive something that I don’t think I have focused a lot on this podcast, at least not at a level that it should be focused on. We talk about health, wealth, relationships, finances, there are so many aspects to personal development. And I try to cover as many as I can, with as many of my thoughts as possible and experiences as possible. But then there is one thing that is that needs to be talked about a lot that needs to be emphasized, which I have not, I don’t see a lot of people doing it either, which is at the core of everything that’s happening at the core is your brain. And the state of the brain is the mind, that mental state has to be preserved, not in terms of emotions, or feelings are stress, anxiety overwhelms, I talk about that all the time. That’s not the point. The brain itself, as is, has to be preserved for a long amount of time.

In one of the earlier podcasts, I talked about this, where I said, there is a lot of research around how to create a good body. There is a lot of research around how to eat right, build a good body, and overcome weight issues and health issues and all that but specifically the mental health part within which the brain itself, just holding the foundational elements of the brain, which is the neurons, there’s not much happening in that space. One example, I also gave in one of the earlier podcasts, my father, at the age of 79, got a stroke. And he’s 88 as of today, and the last eight, nine years. As a result of that stroke, he has developed dementia, and other issues with his mind that stroke could have been avoided that stroke with proper diet, proper exercise, proper sleep, proper discipline, improper mental discipline, which could have been avoided. And of course, if something is seriously going wrong in the body, there are not many things you can do. But then at least there should be a proactive approach to just preventing such issues. The biggest challenge we have today, as a human is that we have a longer physical life, but a smaller mental life.

So case in point and the point I’m driving here is you need to be very careful. And you need to have a mental routine in place. In the mind routine, you need to find out what foods you are eating that are empowering or strengthening the brain itself. How do you rest the brain? What activities music, reading a book, going into the wilderness, whatever? How do you destress? How do you re-compose the mind, Mark Twain said, in order for you to become a master, in order for you to become as big as the Mississippi River. There’s a contrast in that statement. You have to learn everything and relearn everything every 24 hours, you have to learn and relearn everything, every 24 hours, something like that. It’s amazing when I think about these things. And as a part of my day, as I’m doing things, these words, they come back to me, these are not the words that I’m sitting here and saying, Okay, I’m going to say this line on this podcast, or I’m going to say this on my radio show. These are the things that I practiced or I studied for them to stay within me. So that when I am doing something like reading a book or going somewhere or engaged in them in my day-to-day activity, these clients, act as my guides, they act as my mentors, these lines these words. Imagine learning and relearning everything, every 24 hours. So I woke up this morning, I have to relearn everything I did yesterday.

Otherwise, how can I get that perfection? Is it necessary that we have to relearn everything? No, but you got to catch the philosophy behind it, which is to stay that focused to stay dedicated to that statement that yes, you know, I need to improve myself. A majority part of the improvement has to do with the mental state. I’m telling you right now been through literally every situation when it comes to people issues and my personal issues and everywhere in different contexts. I have been 99% of everything is the mindset. So you set your mind, and things happen for you. Of course, skill, talent experience, brilliance, nature’s gift, all those things, do play a role. But then it’s the mindset. I want you to take a moment today, and I want you to come up with a routine that you are comfortable with, that you can put in place. And you can follow. One of the elemental routines would be you set a time, say I’m going to go to sleep at about maybe 10 or 11 o’clock at night, I’m gonna wake up at five or six the, in the morning, something like that. A routine, you know, and then you keep on improving that routine, to a point where when you wake up, you feel fresh. I hear people telling me, I wake up in the morning, I don’t feel fresh, I feel restless as a wake-up. You shouldn’t be because sleep is something that you can construct, there are external things that you can change. Of course, internally, you can change also. But then you got you to have the variables with which you can play to create an ideal situation or a scenario within which you feel good. So you’re resting, you’re not resting, you’re working, you’re not working.

You’re taking action, but things are not happening. All this is because the mind has to be nourished. So come up with a routine, or at least a sleep routine. And also a diet routine, which is targeted towards the well-being of the mind. And you start seeing magic happen, you do this, you do this for about a month or two or three. And you start seeing things happening you feel as if you are in control, you feel you are complete as an individual, you know, you are holding on to the ground. And you know that everything that’s coming at you, you have what it takes within you to create the resistance if something is trying to push you and pull you in different ways, through different means. That’s the end goal. Now, you do this doesn’t matter, you’re 50 or 60 or 70 years old today, if you’re younger, much better. The earlier you start, the better it’s going to become but then you start with this. And then imagine you get into 90 9500 years. And you can still remember everyone. You have your feelings in place. You have your emotions in place. You have your observations in place, a brain is active, in some cases, even hyperactive. It’s wonderful, you can enjoy old age as you are progressing. That’s something that has been on my mind for a while since my father had a stroke. Now how do I drive this in my seminars and workshops, I keep insisting that you need to do things to keep the foundational functional elements of the mind in place and keep them operational, keep them busy condolence into the mind.

So that’s all for now. That’s the message for Monday. Stay tuned, appreciate you all with your messages with your emails with your texts, all that all those things are keeping me empowered, want to come back to the model we’re going to take this conversation to a whole different level on a different topic. So thank you
